Bio

21 year old Josh Romig has burst onto the Melbourne music scene this year with his strikingly original and beautiful contemporary folk songs. In March 2010, Josh won the Young Songwriter Award at the Apollo Bay Music Festival for "River Mouth".

As well as writing his own folk-influenced songs, Josh has two ongoing songwriting partnerships. The first with Nathan Goble, goes under the name of "Small States" and they have just been awarded 4th place in the international Singer Songwriter Awards with beautiful ballad, "She Wanted to Fall".

Coming up: Josh is playing at The St Kilda Festival 2011 and the Folk Rhythm and Life Festival in December 2010.

In 2008 Josh was a part of band Jess & the Paige Boys, singing backup harmonies at gigs and several festivals including The Corinbank Festival (ACT), The Darebin Music Feast (they won the Audience Choice Award), The Banyule Festival (supporting Mark Seymour ) and the huge St Kilda Festival, The Manningham Spring Festival, The Bluestocking Gala (Traralgon) supporting Debra Conway, The Melbourne Town Hall Gala for Regional Women Leaders, Wintringham Christmas Party, Manchester Lane and CERES Sound Lab.

In 2009 Josh played at The Corner Hotel, the Warrandyte Festival, The Convent Gallery in Daylesford and the Gorgeous Voices Festival in Bendigo.

This year Josh has played in The City Square supporting The chartopping Sundance Kids and played Australia Day and The Queens Birthday weekend at Mornington Peninsula's Willow Creek Winery. Josh was selected for the APRA "Face the Music Showcase" at The Arts Centre and was mentored by well-known songwriter, Charles Jenkins. This was followed by selection, again from many hopefuls, for the Melbourne Songwriter Competition finals held at The Toff in Town. He was also selected for the Telstra Road to Tamworth stage at The Queenscliff Festival. The best is yet to come!

Josh is set to record his debut EP in December...
