Bio

Josh Tatum is a singer/songwriter from Fort Worth, Texas. Although Josh has his own, very unique way of conveying feeling and emotion through song he is most easily recognized by his distinct, melodic style of guitar playing. Josh's blend of the blues, soul music, and rock 'n roll has garnered him many comparisons to likes of: Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Roots, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Dave Matthews. Josh began his journey in the Fall of 2008 with his friends and band mates Slayde Martin, Richard Millsap, and Jerry Reynolds. The group worked on Josh's first EP, Patience, in Austin, TX completing it in December of 2008. Patience landed Josh in many of Austin's and LA's venues: Momo's, The Saxon Pub, The Troubadour (Austin), The Whiskey a Go-Go, The Viper Room, numerous shows at the House of Blues (Houston and Dallas), as well as South by Southwest.

After a string of shows in Austin and LA Josh, Richard, and Slayde began playing trio sets all over Texas. Playing mainly to the college crowd Josh and the duo began to develop their own Jam Band style reminiscent of a modern day Clapton with the Yardbirds. After leaving Austin in the summer of 2009 the Josh Tatum trio was joined by rhythm guitarist Trevor Jones. This set the band to a classic rock format with one lead guitarist/lead vocalist, one rhythm guitarist, a bassist, and a drummer.

As the group played together Josh's writing began to mesh into a more classic style of songwriting conveyed by a soulful, rock 'n roll style. This transition is evident on Josh's new album, Impossible. From the acoustic sound of "Believe", through the soulful, jazzy sounds of "Famous Last Words", and "You're Only as Good as You Look", to the guitar driven, hard rock sounds of "Come On", and "Mrs. Ruthless" Impossible spans the spectrum of sound that is rock music. Upon completing Impossible Josh played at the Hotel Cafe' and The House of Blues on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California. Josh is now waiting to release his new album and get back on the road.
