Josh Thompson

Singer/songwriter Josh Thompson is truly someone to watch. A recent arrival on the Nashville scene, Thompson has already shared the stage with such luminaries as superstar Teddy Geiger, Backstreet Boys' Brian Littrell, Click Five and Dirty Blonde among others. His music also caught the ear of Grammy-nominated pop producer, David Grow. "Josh is the most promising artist I've worked with in years," says Grow. "His music is smart and inventive but still very accessible. On stage, he's a born performer as well. He has it all."

Thompson's passionate performances are both the reaction to and the consequence of his arduous touring schedule. His bandmates create the sinuous, driving tableau over which his sometimes gritty tenor flows.
Thompson, who could have stepped effortlessly into the made-for-tweens shimmering pop millpond opted instead for something more adventurous and muscular with songs like "Perfect Pain," a rolicking ode to unrequited love, or the Beatlesque understatement of "Almost Everything."

Two years ago, when he was a mere 18 and still in high school, Thompson recorded a re-make of the Jonathan Edwards' classic, "Sunshine" and asked Edwards to join him on the record. Edwards happily agreed and the pair made history as the song returned to the charts 35 years after its first appearance there, this time with Thompson alternating verses with Edwards. "I've always loved the song," says Thompson. "And working with Jonathan Edwards was a dream come true for me. He is a true icon and I'm grateful he liked what I was doing enough to let me join him on one of his greatest songs."

Thompson has a new EP released last month entitled, "She Was." Described by Thompson as a confessional, the songs paint a compelling portrait of love and love lost that is both cathartic and uplifting. Don't look for the usual maudlin meanderings of heartbreak on this record. Here Thompson charges into his uncertainty with such gusto that in the end we believe him when he sings "I still believe..There's an answer for me." From all appearances, there certainly is indeed.
