Bio

Every once in a while an artist comes along to challenge the status quo. To not only stand out in a crowd littered with hopes of becoming the “next big thing” but to make their stance as a force to be reckoned with in the current and future music industry. The artist, in this case, is Joshua Brown and with the release of his new record “Orphans & Kingdoms” at hand, he has solidified his place as one of today’s hottest new artist.

“I remember standing in front of a crowd somewhere in Illinois at the age of 4 with my dad on the keys and me singing. After I finished my song, I saw the audience react in a way that made me feel like I was doing something right,” says Joshua when asked about his early influences to becoming a musician. “At that point I knew this is what I want to do the rest of my life. Influence people using the medium of music and write songs that collectively show who I strive to be.”

With this in mind, it’s to no surprise Joshua has seen great success in his career thus far. Performing with artist such as Grammy nominated Sarah Jarosz, playing sold out concerts in front of thousands of people, appearing/playing on CBS television, touring in some of the top venues across the US and creating a large national fan-base.

Though Joshua has respectfully built up a great resume’ in his still yet early career, industry leaders expect the release of his new record “Orphans & Kingdoms” to boost him to the upper repertoire of new artist in the major music market. Engineer and co-producer Jeff Peek (who has worked with artist such as Vince Gill, Amy Grant and Jason Mraz) said, “The difference between Joshua Brown and other artist out there is he’s real. There’s no need to over produce or add layer upon layer to each track. It’s best in it’s natural state and I think that’s what the music industry is looking for.”

The new record kicks off with the powerful ballad and title track “Orphans & Kingdoms” and ends with Joshua’s folky, singer-songwriter stylings on “River”. It’s highlighted by the songs “Song for Goodbyes”, which is clothed with dynamics and an emotional view on letting go, and “Here’s My Life”, which sheds light on the joy of giving yourself away for a greater cause or person. Overall, the album incorporates the feeling of his live performances with an artistic element only found in a hand full of songwriters or performers. It also serves as grand proof that this is one artist you do not want to overlook any time soon and who will be steadily gaining momentum for years to come.

“I believe this is the best music I’ve written. It deals with everything from love and goodbyes to faith and hope. Sure I want this album to be successful but more so, I want people to know that no matter who they are or where they come from, they have a reason for being here and in the situation they may be faced with. God gives purpose to every breathing creature and I believe with that purpose he gives a capability to accomplish it.”
