Bio

Violist, Joshua Burgos González is as a performer and an educator. Spring of 2008, Joshua was chosen to represent Latino classical musicians at the 5th Annual Hispanic Choice Awards held at Verizon Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was after his solo debut that Joshua was accepted to participate in Victoria Voronyansky's "Intensive String Workshop", a program for the gifted in Bucks County and Philadelphia.
In addition to solo performances, Joshua was violist for orchestras and chamber music groups. He was member of The Puerto Rico Symphony, Temple University Baroque Orchestra, The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Orchestra, and The Settlement Music School's Advanced Orchestra. He has worked with such conductors: Luis Biava, Davyd Booth, David Rupp, and Nancy Voight. Joshua was violist for the International String Quartets and Prodigy String Quartet, under direction of Monique Johnson.
Mr. Burgos González is active in music education and has managed music studios in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He has given lectures on music appreciation, has coached the viola sections orchestras. Spring of 2009, Joshua has accepted position as viola faculty and assistant conductor at Musica Sin Barreras, a music school in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico. Active in the field of education in Puerto Rico, Joshua has given master classes and technique workshops to young violists and violinists on the island.
From all of Joshua's success, he has been presented with The National School Orchestra Award, The Orchestra Leadership Award, and was recipient of the Josephine M. Poth Memorial String Scholarship. He is also the founder of the community service project, "Ode to Joy", a program that uses music to help enrich the lives of Senior Citizens and youth in the inner city.
Puerto Rican violist, Joshua Burgos González was born in 1989, in Philadelphia, PA and began his musical studies at Temple University and Settlement Music School. He was accepted by the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico and has advanced to studied viola with solo violist, Victoria Voronyansky of the Juilliard School and Mannes The New School for Music.
