Bio
"Jesus is the star, I'm the promoter." This is a phrase that Joshua Johnson reminds himself of daily. In a world
where misguided focus and affections lead people to worship the created rather than the creator, Joshua seeks to
affirm to every audience that Jesus Christ should be the center and source of everything that we are.
Born and raised in California, Joshua's musical interest began and was cultivated while singing in the school choir
and learning to play the saxophone and guitar as an elementary school student. However, it was his love for
basketball that earned him a scholarship to play for a small college in Maryland. During that time of being away
from home and across the country I had so many feelings and emotions that I experienced. "Naturally, music was the
way I expressed myself." Joshua began writing songs on a guitar borrowed from a roommate and when a family situation
called for him to return home to California to finish school he began honing his craft playing in coffee houses and
clubs in Los Angeles. Not satisfied with the lyrical content of the songs he was writing, Joshua felt a calling on
his life to write songs that were spritually uplifing and glorifying to God. From then on Joshua's songs began
drawing from his faith in Jesus. He began leading worship in his home church and singing as a special music guest
for churches in the area.
In 2009 Joshua's songwriting skill was acknowleged by the Gospel Music Association and the American Bible Society
when he won the 2009 Amateur Scripture Song of the year for his song 'Wait'. He also placed third in his category at
the Gospel Music Association's aspring artist competition in Nashville. "It's always nice to be honored. Any honor
I get, I'm very happy to receive but each day I try to keep my focus on Christ and seek to bring everyone's
attention to Him through the talent He has given me."
