Bio
Joshua Westbrook is a rapidly growing drummer in the music scene. His years of playing, teaching, and recording are being highlighted throughout the drumming community. Having played with some of the most recognized bands in the industry, Josh's career has definitely been a success. It doesnt stop there either, Josh continues to perform and learn new tricks as he moves ahead as a musician.
Growing up in Newnan, GA Josh first started drumming at the age of 3; which by most professionals is rather young. Moving on from there, he officially started out playing heavy rock, punk, and pop music. It wasnt until 2000 when he found his first successful touring band and as they say he got bitten by the live music bug. Josh has since been to many clinics, such as the Drummers Collective, to improve his skills.
In 2004, Josh moved to Athens, GA. This is where his career really started to take off. It was in this time where he met and took lessons from famous drummers, such as: Steve Smith, Mike Johnston, and Mark Moody. During this time Josh played in cover bands as well as some original projects around the area. In early 2010 Josh went into the legendary John Keane Studios to record an album for a band he was in at the time. It was the highlight of his recording career to date.
Josh is sponsored by Dream Cymbals, and has a variety of cymbal 'flavors'. He currently plays a Tama Starclassic birch kit, black lacquer finish. He also plays a vintage Pearl Presidential blue pearl maple kit. Joshua Westbrook is also pending an amazing sponsorship with a well known drum stick company.
Josh has been teaching drums and percussion for years now, and is well known in the community for his abilities to interact well with students. Because of his outgoing personality, Josh has been a favorite for drum clinics all around the southeast. In addition, Josh has won several teaching awards of excellence and is currently considering filming a DVD of grip techniques as well as drum kit setup.
All in all, Joshua Westbrook is drummer still growing in skill and popularity. He is an extremely friendly man, easy to get along with, and easy to learn from. Given all this, plus his experience with well known drummers, Josh is definitely one to be noted in the modern music industry, to learn more about Josh and his music, check out his website at joshuawestbrook.wordpress.com anytime!
