Josiah Hawk

This isn’t a Bio so much as it is a hope that whoever has our little piece of music in their hands will read this and know a little more about us on a personal level. There was a time when rock and roll was able to reach the masses, define generations, and inspire youth. In the age of the internet, reality television, and corporate produced icons, rock and roll has lost some of its heart. Everyone in this band can remember being a child and digging the art work of a Led Zeppelin album, calling the radio to request a cool song, or gracing the walls of your bedroom with posters of rock and roll heroes. The shaman Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix’s guitar, Janis Joplin’s passion, and Kurt Cobain’s impact on our generation each had a role in shaping us as musicians.

Josiah Hawk has a story to tell. Each song is a desire to move inspire or provoke thought through music. Together the three of us leave the daily expectations of the grind, we exit the machine, and dare to dream. We don’t take the gift of music for granted. We don’t think we reinvented the wheel. We do believe wholeheartedly though we have something to offer the world of music with genuine talent and a distinct vision along with integrity and passion. We truly hope to be one day along side, or at least in the same company as, those who inspired us to do this to begin with.

It’s been a journey to find each other, each of us knowing the other was the missing piece that would create a sound all our own. If you took away one of the Doors it would not be the Doors, or separated Page from Plant, there would be no Zeppelin. We don’t think we are them, but we do know that’s how strongly the three of us are connected musically.

This is Josiah Hawk: the lead singer, a poet an activist, a musician, and a visionary, whose singing comes from the core of her soul, the Englishman law student whose guitar playing gives us a reason to love rock and roll again, and the Texas-born clever witty one whose bass lines are pure power. Finding a drummer has been a task that isn’t easy. Planning to be the world’s next great rock and roll band takes time. There are a lot of good bands, we want to be great.

Talent has taken a back seat to fad. True rock and roll stars are not voted for on a show, they are born. We think we have something here. We don’t think ourselves any better or any less than anyone else. We do have a sound all our own. It’s Josiah Hawk. We love this music, we love what we do.
