Josie Carr brings us the sounds of hip hop/ reggaeton from a Brooklyn, NYC perspective in which she uses it as a vehicle to showers us with a buffet of lyrical concepts and catchy hooks geared to enpower and move women. They call her La Gata Negra because she dares to challenge our gender roles With songs like "Ya No Te Quiero" , "Me Quiere Y No Me Quiere" "Desafio" among many she delivers a spotlight on relationship hardship and survival; where women are represented and encouraged not to accept less than their worth. She is definitely a modern day poet. She is the latin female TUPAC of reggaeton/ hip hop. Josie Carr the voice of strength empowering all genres of women! - www.thabocks.com

Bio
Imagine a spanglish version of outkast, no doubt, or the roots. That is what Josie Carr and her LIVE band have been compared to!
A musical visionary in Latin Hip Hop, Josie Carr is breaking new ground as the 1st Latin female emcee to perform live, simultaneously spittin’ and playing live instruments with her band Wildstyle where she meshes a toxic spanglish combination of dance/pop and hip hop that's undeniably infectious. She describes her music as a Sancocho (LATIN STEW) a mix of the dance /pop and hip hop influences of her life in Brooklyn, combined with Latin influences of her Puerto Rican upbringing.
She put together her band “Wildstyle”, to give her Sancocho a new flavor.
Members:
Her Laptop (computer aka La Jodona)
Live drummer (Jim Williams aka J Dubz)
Keyboardist (Joe Rosa aka Joe Teklas)
Background vocalist (Yvette Rodriguez aka 7ven”).
They have been performing at several NYC clubs including Club Show, SOB, Galapagos and Crash Mansion. Their live show is as energetic and commanding as Josie's rhymes are strong and unforgiving. Her debut CD "LA GATA NEGRA" includes her 1st single release "Wan' B Like Me" currently being featured in the new HBO film LIFE SUPPORT starring Queen Latifah.
There is no other emcee, male or female, putting it down like Josie Carr right now. She spits her rhymes with fire and plays her bass with fury. Her sound is sick and her beats are nasty. The music community is wide open for an artist of her caliber to step right in and lead the evolution of the new Music Era.
Josie Carr is a woman with a voice, a message, and an artist career that will be internationally recognized in a NY Minute.
