Biography

There are those who are granted opportunity, and then there are others who take opportunity by the horns, molding and shaping what has been given to them into a continuous evolving machine. Not just a machine that empowers that individual but a group of likeminded individuals, creating a movement backed by the ability to simply believe. For Jovan Dais, every bit as multi-faceted as what he brings to the table artistically, action coupled with belief and opportunity has birthed soulful music, lyrics and an undeniable talent recognized by recording elite.

2004 would mark his introduction as a player in the music industry and ‘FedEx’ was released via CD Baby as a seven song EP. After creating a buzz throughout Atlanta with ‘FedEx’, Jovan would enter a deal with local club promoter turned music executive Mark “Biddy” Barnes and his Cloud 9 Entertainment. In 2005, frustrated with the then current state of the music industry and its “auto-tune” infusion, Jovan would turn to his alter ego and take his frustration to the studio releasing the first ever R&B mixtape by the Aphilliates DJ Drama and DJ Don Cannon (24: Season One).

Calling on his relationship with hit making Atlanta producer DJ Toomp (TI, Kanye West, Young Jeezy), with an assist from songwriter Jasper Cameron (Ciara, Lloyd) Jovan crafted the Toomp produced underground hit “Gotta Get to My Baby”. Jovan embarked on a retail campaign in February of 2006, later reaching the #3 spot on Billboards R&B/Hip Hop Singles sales chart with “Gotta Get to My Baby.” The following year, he released 24: Season Two and was selected for a spot on Seagram’s Gin Live Tour. Joining rap duo the Clipse and R&B sensation Mya, Jovan toured the US, earning the appreciation of music enthusiasts from NY and Washington DC.

In 2009 Jovan released the mixtape Rhythm & Streets, another Aphilliates collaboration, which showcased smooth vocals with a hip hop driven alter ego. Later that year whilst production partner Hot Sauce was at work on projects with super-producer Polow Da Don, Jovan was featured on “Baby By Me” a chart-topping single with platinum selling rapper/actor 50 Cent. Jovan also moved further into the business side of music reforming his production company (Anotha Dais Productions) with good friend and then business partner producer Paul “Hollywood Hot Sauce” Dawson.

After taking a break from performing for a few years, Jovan is back with a new perspective. Jovan teamed up with DJ Don Cannon for a repeat mixtape release, this time under Cannon’s SEX SELLS imprint. Jovan is excited about the new project and the fact that he stepped out of the box with his lyrical content. The set also includes the ladies favorite “Anywhere” and boasts a hot collaboration with Verse Simmonds (Boo Thang) featured on “Honor Roll”.

Over the years, Jovan has evolved into a hybrid artist capable of performing in front of any audience, from serenading the ladies with an acoustic set to rocking the party with more uptempo club records. Now that the climate of music is shifting back to real quality R&B, Jovan Dais is ready to release an album that showcases his heart and soul while showing he is still here. For the past 7 years Jovan has been working with production team T-Town Productions based out of Hamburg, Germany and although they have never met face to face the chemistry is undeniable and the music timeless. The time is right and Jovan is motivated to release “LOVE @ 1ST BYTE” an album true to the core artist that he is produced soley by T-Town crafted entirely online. While continuing to expand the rebirth of R&B this project will play like and audio love story and is sure to re-acquaint music enthusiasts with the enigma that is Jovan Dais.
