Began her career studying with Alfred Jarrett when she was 9 years old, her professional career begins as a singer performing in Buffalo NY as a classical singer studying with Jerry Burgess at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo NY and Samuel Herr, she later performed at a small local club in Buffalo called Gabriel's Gate by the way this was her first club performance . Joyce also toured with the Gemini Dance Company in Europe and performed at the Apollo theatre NYC and Smalls Paradise in Harlem NY. Joyce appeared in the sitcom (What’s happen now) for Columbia picture TV Performing various character rolls. Joyce was one of the directors of Karamu House The oldest Black professional institution in the United States. A Noted high light in acting for joyce was when she performed a one women show called Lady Day at the Emerson’s Bar and Grille, it was held over twice with 84 sold out performances
Joyce is a teaching artist , she was a director and actress at many of the Western new York performing arts organizations , Studio Arena, O'Connell and company Alleyway theatre, Buffalo Ensemble Theatre , Irish Classical Theatre
She toured with the show band out of NYC called Charles St Paul, and she was also a former member of Voices Incorporated NYC.
Joyce later joined the historic Colored musicians club where she sang with many of the big bands including The Carol McLaughlin Big Band, George Scott and Jimmy White Apollo Big Band. Joyce also performed regularly at the Anchor Bar the home of the buffalo wings with the Doug Gaston quintet.. Jazz is her passion you can hear the influences of her favorite artist Nancy Wilson, Joyce’s New Cd (You Can’t Make No Money Singin Jazz) has had Rave reviews and has aired on many internet stations around the world. Jazz is where it at and this lady serves it to you the old fashion way with a touch of class.
