Lyrics

Or So it seems

Written By: Joy Cuming

Don’t know why you left me
On the open road that day
Tried so hard to find you
Finally gave it all away and smiled
I put it down to style
You can pray for rain
Or you can dig your way to water
On those big old dusty plains
You fall victim or you’re martyred to your dreams
Or so it seems

Wandered on quite aimlessly
Addicted to the loss
Gauging my existence on the sunsets
And the albatross that arcs the sky
Waiting for something to die
Then on the horizon
I caught glimpse of true surrender
Release those worldly burdens
Learning hoe to live and love again
The heart does mend

So take your visions and fly away
If you want it that bad
Who and I to make you stay
Those chilly winds blow fierce and mean
But we move on
In spite of what we say and do
We are soul
Hey we pull through
We’ve got a lot of things to find
In the short spell we call a life
I’ve been blind
But now I see that winding track
An open road to take me back
To higher ground

Fourteen years and barely seen
Beyond my own backyard
Off to find Australia
A paradise for those who still believe that God
Is a resident abroad
Seven years of drought
Might turn to seven years of drowning
On those big old dusty plains
You might search in vain for fortunes in the sand
Or take life’s hand

Don’t know why you left me
On the open road that day
Tried so hard to find you
Finally gave it all away and smiled
I put it down to style
You can pray for rain
Or you can dig your way to water
On those big old dusty plains
You fall victim or you’re martyred to your dreams
Or so it seems

Grace of God

Written By: Joy Cuming

Verse One
Woke up this morning
Different pair of eyes
Something had lifted
I let go of my disguise
In the shadow of the temple
I bow down with reference
To all the love that I have found
And never turning back
I’ll travel on
This higher ground

Verse Two
Don’t be frightened
Don’t be sad
This is the greatest love that you’ll ever have
Shrouded by life’s mystery
Is an ancient love so pure
That it will set you free
And set you sailing on the waters of love and mercy

Chorus
Listen to the raindrops falling
Touching down to meet the all embracing sea
Listen to the children’s laughter
Each a part of some great pulsing symphony
We can dedicate our lives to giving joy and love to all
\We hear that clarion call
But don’t know where to start
It’s by giving out we fuel the flame
That lights the heart
It lights the heart

Bridge
Closer than a heartbeat
Wider than the plains
Majesty of mountains that surround the valley
More patient than a mother’s love
More gentle than the rain
Unceasing releasing us to love
We travel on by the grace of God
The Grace of God

Verse Three
Bend like a willow
Graceful in the breeze
But hunt like a tiger
Taking only what you need
And never falter in your duty
To serve others as you can
And dance lightfooted on this earth
As it spins to the music of celestial bands

Verse Four
Each life an expression
It’s a pattern on a wheel
Turning time and time again
Till we find out what is real
Then we start the voyage back across
The seas of providence
And face the tempest in the storm
Until we anchor in the harbor of love and mercy once more

Chorus
Listen to the raindrops falling
Touching down to meet the all embracing sea
Listen to the children’s laughter
Each a part of some great pulsing symphony
We can dedicate our lives to giving joy and love to all
\We hear that clarion call
But don’t know where to start
It’s by giving out we fuel the flame
That lights the heart
It lights the heart

Changes

Written By: Joy Cuming

Got to get up
Got to get out
You know I’ve got to get up
Off the ground
Got to get up
Got to get out
You know there’s something out there
To be found

Images and memories haunting me
Endlessly
Relentlessly they play
Over and over
Round and round in my head
Sometimes late at night I talk to you
I laugh at things you use to do
Reliving moments
I grasp at visions
But they fade away

I can’t imagine what it was that changed your mind
I keep hoping that someday real soon
I’ll find
A new life without you
If I could find my way
Beyond this darkness
And this grey
I know you wait beyond the rain
Love never dies it just
Changes

Changes
And I’ve got to get up off the ground
Got to get up
Got to get out
You know there’s something out there
To be found

Images and memories haunting me
Endlessly
Relentlessly they play
Over and over
Round and round in my head
Sometimes late at night I talk to you
I laugh at things you use to do
Reliving moments
I grasp at visions
But they fade away

I often wonder why it was you had to die
I look beyond this life I lead
But still I cry
I’m missing you so
If I could find my way
Beyond this darkness
And this grey
I know you wait beyond the rain
Life never dies it just
Changes

Got to get up Got to get out
Got to get up Got to get out
Got to get up Got to get out
Got to get up Got to get out
