Bio

JOHN “JP” PARKER

JP’s musical history began at the age of five (5) when he starting playing the drums. JP had such a passion for it that he practiced as often as possible. Around this time he also began to sing. JP enjoyed singing so much that he would sing along all day with his mother’s James Cleveland albums. This also helped developed his love for the piano. JP marveled when he saw people play and thought to himself “I could do that too,” so at the age of seven (7) he started to play piano in church. JP took music in school beginning at a very young age. Over the years he has played in many church bands. JP initially gave his heart to the Lord in 1974. Starting at the age of thirteen (13) he started doing recordings (playing, singing and eventually writing). JP grew up in South Jamaica, Queens and from early on his love of music brought him into a circle of friendship with people like producer Dinky Bingham and singer Aaron Hall. He recently recorded a remix on the new “Marvin Gaye’s Greatest Hits” album and has played and recorded for Ashford & Simpson. JP has also co-written and co-produced with Professor James Hall and Worship & Praise, recorded with MC Hammer, sang background vocals for Karen Clark Sheard, and shared the stage with Regina Bell and Bishop Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir. JP has also done some recording work for record labels such as Warner Bros., RCA Records and Tommy Boy including Jodeci, Devante Swing, Drea, Men of Vision and Genuine, to name a few.

JP’s eye opening first solo CD, “I Rock With One Name, Jesus,” is the realization of a long-time dream come true. It is a unique blend of “Urban Gospel” that is guaranteed to stir your soul. Check out JP’s website at HYPERLINK "http://www.jparkermusic.com" www.jparkermusic.com.

JP believes the reason he is accomplished in many facets of music is the pure love of it that the Lord gave him. JP desires that everything he does be to the glory and honor of God.
