Bio

*Apolinar Padilla Jr. has been performing music since he was 10 years old. Raised in New York City, he began by playing drums in church, but over time expanded his repertoire to include a variety of instruments such as keys, bass, and trumpet.

In junior high school, he turned his attentions to the trumpet—earning the title of 2nd Trumpet in his graduating class-and the piano, studying gospel piano and keys with a private tutor. Though still quite young, he became known in the professional music scene as an adept and talented musician, and he began playing with a variety of solo artists, gospel bands, and even touring evangelists.

In 2000, Padilla met Pat Petrillo, a master drum instructor and performer known for touring with artists like Gloria Gaynor, at The Groove Academy in Edison, New Jersey. Padilla studied under Petrillo for the next three years; not long thereafter, he enrolled in an Audio Engineering degree program at the Lakehurst Naval Base.

In addition to his talents as a musician, a number of artists, singer-songwriters, and bands soon began seeking out Padilla as a producer and arranger. In 2006, he traveled to Nashville to record drums on an album. He never left, deciding instead to stay and form his own company, J Pad Music.

Today, Padilla’s focus is on the young—and thriving— J Pad Music, LLC. Boasting its own studio, Internet Radio Station as well as production and songwriting team, the label continues to grow, gaining recognition and respect in both Nashville and beyond.
