"JP In The House"

"There is no better feeling for me than seeing happy clubbers dancing, putting their hands in the air, singing along, shouting. And believe me, the clubbers in Kuala Lumpur love dancing as much as (sometimes even more than) anywhere else in the world," he says. His dance song which won the Silver, "Gemini", also received two accolades in the UK Songwriting Competition and Song Of The Year contest. - Expatriate Lifestyle

"Vima Announces Early Winners"

“Having had 2 nominations for the VIMA awards was already great. Having them transformed into 2 awards, including a gold one, is incredible! I owe it a bit to my hard work of last year (there is no substitute to hard work), and a lot to all the great people I met in Malaysia who helped me become what I am today. I’m proud for Malaysia, and humble in front of all the great talents around.” -JP

"Santana's lead singer Tony Lindsay likes DjayPee's song "I Feel Love""

11 time Grammy winning front singer for Santana, Tony Lindsay, just said this about DjayPee’s song “I Feel Love”:

"I picked ‘I Feel Love’ because the second the track started playing, it caught my attention because it was so upbeat and positive. The groove, the instrumentation and the way DjayPee used the vocal samples gave the song a very uplifting appeal.

This song sounds and feels like the kind of tracks that you hear in the dance clubs today.

Congratulations DjayPee.

Yours truly, Tony Lindsay"

"Review"

French artist Jean-Pierre Lantieri, also known as Djaypee, left his native country in order to follow his calling to other parts of the world. In what he himself called a "spiritual calling" to Asia, it was there where he was able to take in the culture and ultimately make the music he produces today. With this new knowledge gained, he created a full length album, Lounge, in which he shares the interesting sound of world music meets electronica.

The Asian influence of Lounge is pretty evident throughout the album. Songs like the dramatically pulsating "Geisha" takes you through a traditional Japanese life, "Lost" shows deep emotion through the ErHu (a Chinese violin with only two strings), which also shows up on the lively "Tango Maria." The music has a way of putting you at ease with its relaxing compositions, all the while taking you through a different world of music that you may have never known (but still with elements that you do know).

Djaypee's Lounge is successful in the orchestration of the interesting combination of world music and electronica, which invites the listener to relax as well as be engulfed with the beauty of music from another land.

"Album of the week"

A mix of cultural music to excite your senses

Jean-Pierre Lantieri aka DjayPee (yes the name may cause a few sniggers) is a unique French artiste with a multi-cultural musical heart steeped in the mysteries, traditions and exotic sounds of Asia. We caught up with this Moby look-alike at the launch of his two new albums, Lounge and Tempo, and had a chance to embrace his musical philosophy and style.

"I want to bring music into a new level by incorporating a strong South-East Asian feel in this genre, by integrating traditional instruments like the erhu, the shamisen, or some local flutes, in my pieces. I am also keen to explore more Malaysian instruments and beats on my next music project" he quips. His Lounge album is a cultural clash of Javanese, Japanese, Thai and Chinese orchestration, set over sensuous trance and lounge grooves featuring crowd favorites Geisha and The King Of Angkor.

Tempo on the other hand, hits closer to the club scene at home, merging more up-beat electronica, house and chillout beats.

The highlights include his award winning tracks The Roses Of Ispahan and I Feel Love and can be heard blasting on the dance floors across asia. Endorsed by local stars like Ning Baizura and JD of Pop Shuvit, and behind his remixes of songs by Beyonce and Gwen Stefani, DjayPee invites you to let it all go, through his exceptional aural landscape.

Bio

In 2012 French music producer, remixer and club DJ Jean-Pierre Lantieri was the winner of the Gold VIMA Award for Best Electro/Dance Act. Known simply as JP, he has won numerous other awards for his tracks “Gemini”, “I Feel Love”, “Kids”, and “Geisha”.

JP’s passion for music began in his teens with the arrival of a dusty old piano to the family home. This magic piano started him on the road of a life-long musical journey.

As an adult, lured by its rich culture and mysticism, he came to Asia to produce music and develop his talents. With Om Works, his own record label, he released two albums fusing lounge and world music. Lounge and Tempo both garnered international acclaim and were featured in numerous high profile newspapers and magazines. His music has also been featured in several compilations.

With an equal passion for sizzling hot Electronic Dance Music, JP has performed live as a DJ at some of the most high profile and prestigious venues in Malaysia and Singapore. JP creates, produces and mixes sound to create his own unique style, leaving the crowd out of breath and cheering for more.

He has collaborated with some of the best DJ’s and musicians in the field and the demand for his music just keeps increasing.
