The best kept secret in music

"Jessie Poland- Looking out from the second floor"

What's clear is the tremendous promise of a young woman who's been driven to build the start of a solid career in music and lay the foundation of great things to come while (we hope) getting her homework in on time.- Matt Mrowicki
- Chorus and Verse

"Rock Star in Training"

Despite a wicked pair of lungs, a poet's pen and a skilled strumming hand, this girl is still unsigned. So what does it take to get a record deal around here?- Melissa Walker - Elle Girl Magazine

I promise this won't be released 2005

Feeling a bit camera shy

Jessie Poland, described as “curiously talented” by an early reviewer, has been performing her own songs since age 14. From the beginning Jessie’s unusually powerful voice, searingly truthful lyrics and uniquely crafted melodies have been attracting wide media attention, culminating in a two page spread in Ellegirl Magazine. Now 18, Jessie’s music has matured into a quirky mix of jazzy pop/roots/rock alternative reflecting such early influences as Van Morrison and Lisa Loeb, and more currently Roy Orbison, Death Cab for Cutie, Rilo Kiley and the Everly brothers. Jessie says, “ just think of me as if Rilo Kiley, Death Cab For Cutie, Fiona Apple, and Lisa Loeb made love and had a spoiled brat baby.” Now as J Poland and the Pilots, Jessie can be heard on a host of college radio stations across the country, as well as performing live at select venues in the East Village and at the Jersey Shore. (Bamboozle 2005, Pianos, Coffee Blue)

Under the guidance of Crush Management (Fall Out Boy, Armor for Sleep, The Hush Sound) and renowned vocal instructor Don Lawrence (The Rolling Stones, Bono, Joss Stone, Bon Jovi, Fuel, Tracy Bonham) Jessie is posed to go to the next level in her development as an artist. “Putting this kickass band together has been one of the most rewarding experiences of this journey so far,” Jessie says. “Now when I am writing a new song, I can hear the different instrumental lines moving in my head. The guys are just so good. They have added so much to the process.”

Look for J Poland and the Pilots this spring in venues across the North East. You can get show dates, tons of pictures and of course, free downloadable music on Jessie’s web site: www.j-poland.com.
