Bio

HI-Society’s own J. Quest was born into a situation that offered him no choice but to emerge as a creative and unique individual. Quest, a Houston native born in Texas moved from New Orleans to Trinidad and Tobago and eventually settled in Egypt where he graduated from high school. This diversity inspired him creatively as an artist and broadened his world view. He is not your average 21 year old budding emcee by any means.

Introduced to Hip Hop around the age of 10, Quest describes his relationship with music as a relationship that has grown over time, rather than a love at first sight affair. Quest performed for the first time at the young age of 15, and though his musical style has evolved he has always been talented and grounded in good music. Though he is a hip-hop artist to the bone, he maintains his southern rap roots while exploring with experimental music in the style of Cee-Lo, Slum Village and Outkast. In fact he also credits artists from other genres as inspiration including Maroon 5, Daft Punk, and the Gorillaz. Recently, Quest has focused his talents on developing a fresh abstract sound of hip-hop which can be heard in his recent work, such as his singles "Kool-Aid" and “Disorderly Conduct”.

The team of renaissance men and women behind J.Quest is HI-Society. A group of creative minded and highly ambitious individuals working on simultaneously creating dope music and bringing people away from the radio and back to the underground realm of true hip-hop.

Quest currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas and while attending university is steadily grinding for his team, HI-Society and producing good music regularly. He released his debut EP Rehab is for Quitters on October 24th 2010
