In October 1998, pop music had a little baby . . . and its name was the Jeremy Richter Effort.
Over their four year existence, JRE performed over 400 sets, including opening stints with the likes of the Big Wu, Days of the New & Jamestowne, were awarded "best new"& "best performing" accolades from independent associations and sold over 1500 units of their debut album & EPs.
In May 2003, pop music's baby left home . . .
Jeremy Richter, the effort's namesake and creative force, has cut the proverbial cord to work on his debut solo release. With his hook-laden, piano-fronted catalogue in tow, J's current work proves that relevant & inspiring songs can be created without ear-bleeding arrangements or lyrics dedicated solely to thongs. And considering his live performance track record, Richter can easily be regarded as a rare "total package" artist - singer, songwriter & performer.
Stylistically, the new material is not too dissimilar from what one would expect from J's back catalogue. However, there's a new confidence and maturity that resonates throughout each of the new tracks. Having been compared to the great piano men before him, Richter uncannily absorbs his influences and establishes his own trademark sound.
