"The Biography of J.ROB on the Track"

J.Rob (the Music Producer for Hard Hitterz Music Group, Inc.) helps to get our sound recordings to the point of perfection. In most cases, he is also the arranger, composer and/or songwriter who can bring fresh ideas to artist tracks. He is an up-and-coming producer from Maryland. His weapon of choice is Fruity Loops and the MPC 1000.

J.Rob is a 23 year old music producer and also serves as the President of Hard Hitterz.

As well as making any songwriting and arrangement adjustments, he is also in charge of the overall mixing engineer duties. He will liaise with the sound engineer (who concentrates on the technical aspects of recording) and keeps an eye on the overall projects marketability.

J.Rob truly puts forth the effort in his beat-making skills and his production capabilities. No sound recording is ever Encouraging the best musical performance, J.Rob also coaches the artist on his/her delivery and direct the vocalists on their singing. Yes, he is an all-encompassing producer. He always act as the go-to guy when it involves protecting the artists’ interests with the sound recording. He listens and incorporates your needs for every recording that he is a part of. His role is essential to our company and the process of hiring a producer for an album project is a critical matter and should be considered pertinent to the overall success of the album. Especially if there is a reasonable recording budget involved. A person never wants to waste their money.

So having J.Rob onboard with Hard Hitterz has proved to be our most prized asset. And as an experienced producer, he may even help you with contacts to help promote your music and supply advice on publishing, collecting royalties and other aspects of the music industry. It is a fact that producers work in many different ways. Some like to take total control of the project, others prefer to collaborate with the artist, musicians and technicians as a creative partner to produce the best track possible and the invisible or documentary style producer records what has happened during a performance with as little influence as possible. The latter type is exactly the type of person
that J.Rob is. He is very modest, humble, dedicated, hardworking, and most importantly, a perfectionist. He never releases a project that is halfway done or doesn’t meet his standards.

Our artists have the luxury of choosing J.Rob as their producer because he works well with others. Identifying with a producer who you can work well with others is very very important to the success of the overall project.

Reflecting on his past projects, J.Rob has received a laundry list of credits as he has participated in numerous projects. If you talk to his clients and spend some time getting to know J.Rob as a person, you will see that he is a great person inside and outside of the studio setting. Hiring him is a very easy choice as he is very enthusiastic about music. He is very knowledgeable about music. He lives and breathes music. He knows the ins and outs of many genres of music and is objective enough to offer constructive criticism. You need someone who will provide an honest opinion whilst offering viable solutions that you both feel comfortable with. If that is case, then J.Rob is the producer of choice.

J.Rob has produced numerous albums and sounds recordings for artists such as D’General, Young Noah, Majestro, Crazy J, GoodPhella, POET, F.R.U., Shamara, M.O.E., Harvey Grant, and many others. - Written by: Hard Hitterz Music Group, Inc.

Bio

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Jonathan Robinson; also known as J.Rob. I'm a 23 year old Producer/Engineer from Maryland and also the President of Hard Hitterz Inc, a independent music group based in the State of Maryland (aka The DMV).

2.  Can you describe, briefly, how you got started as a music producer? What was your motivation to pursue a music career?

I have always loved music; been wanting to be a music producer from the age of 10. I remember listening to the Neptunes coming up; and, I always said when I start making beats that I want my music to sound like theirs. That was my main motivation from then on to make music that the world can feel.

3. Alot of producers have particular qualities and skills but, in your opinion, what makes you stand out from the rest?

I think my versatility. I try to do something for every genre but different each time I make a track. Also, my determination to get better, I always feel I can do better than the last track I've done. I'm never content.

4. Are there any producers you want to work with that you have not yet had the opportunity to work with?

I wish I could just sit in on a session with all of the greats such as Neptunes, Just Blaze, Kanye, Quincy Jones, etcetera and be a sponge and soak up everything they know. Also Guru (Jay-Z's Engineer). Every interview that I see him in, he's dropping knowledge and I listen to everything that he says and apply it to what I do.

5. Are there any artists you want to work with that you have not yet had the opportunity to work with?

Yes, it's alot of artist that I want to work with. But, to name a few, Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, Beyonce, Amerie, Kanye, Pop artists, Reggae artists, etc. you name it i'm ready to work with everybody.

6. What can we expect from you in 2010?

Just more music! Expect to hear some of my production on upcoming releases from D'General, Young Noah, Majestro, M.O.E., F.R.U., Shamara Moore, Harvey Dent, Deborah J, FM, Ace, Tru Shootaz, Kae-9, Jasmine, etc. Also, i'm hoping to get some placements in with major artists as well.

7. Do you have any advice for people who want to become music producers?

My advice for people who want to produce is just work hard, learn a instrument, and study. The more you study the better you'll become. Study all the great producers before you and learn what made them what they are and apply it to your style of making music.

8. What is distinctive about your music production compared to today's market of talent?

Honestly, I have no idea what my sound is; but, other people tell me it's the amount of sounds that I use in a track. I use alot of sounds but I try to make it cohesive as possible so one instrument won't overpower the other. Also, people say that I have a sound but I really don't hear it yet. LOL.

9. So with that being said, what other producers, songwriters and/or artists do you see as your primary inspirations?

Neptunes, Just Blaze, Timbaland, Drumma Boy, Polow Da Don, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, The Dream, Pharrell, Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, etc. They are my primary inspiration; but, also when I hear something hot, that motivates me too. It can be an underground song, a song from an artist that you've never heard of, a producer who wants me to hear their tracks, etc. So inspiration comes from all places to me.

10. What is a typical day at work like for you?  Is it as busy as we all make it seem or are you alone in the studio by yourself most of the time?

My typical day is to wake up, brush my teeth, shower, eat breakfast, then i'm in the studio working on new tracks, learning some new chords or looking for new sounds. It's kind of busy; especially when you're engineering sessions as well. But, it's fun for me. I'm mostly in the studio by myself but I love working in the studio with the artist. Coming up with a song from scratch on the spot is fun as opposed to emailing tracks, which I really don't like doing. But it's a new time/era so I just have to go with the flow.

11. Do you have a favorite musical project that you've worked on?

All the ones that I'm working on as we speak. For recording artists, I have started a promotional tool called FREE BEATS FRIDAYS. so every week, I upload a new tagged beat to my EPK Audio section for your promotional use only. Shout me out and email your completed track(s) to me! Im interested in hearing what you all have to offer.
