Bio

The first thing you’re going to notice is the larger-than-life guitars. J’s Basement is notorious for taking rock music to new heights as they rip through unique, riff-oriented Hard Rock. Their music has been described as, “catchy, high-energy, pedal-to-the-metal Rock.” It is delivered with an attitude that is hard to match. “J’s Basement continue to spread the good word that kick ass Rock n Roll is still out there.”

“These guys have something good going on, their creativity and approach is right on the mark.” -Ken Greer, former producer

Formed in 1999, Toronto is home-base to these talented, motivated musicians. The guys frequent Toronto’s esteemed institutions of Rock Music, including the legendary Horseshoe Tavern, Lee’s Palace, the Reverb, the Opera House, the El Mocambo, and many others. The band has shared the stage with Marble Index, Vernon Reid of Living Colour, Hunter Valentine, Running Against Radar, and many other talented acts.

In addition to constant live performances, they recently received a feature spin on 102.1 the EDGE with Making You Wise. That track has also been placed in a Toronto Independent Music Pod Cast . Their radio-friendly-unit-shifter, Rise Above it All was placed in “EVILLE” a US Horror film, due out Summer 2006. The boys also have an annual spot at CIBC’s Run for the Cure event, where they play for 30,000+ people each year.

“I’ve seen this band evolve from the basement, their talent and songwriting abilities are undeniable. ‘Life Is Strange’ was a great project, and I would gladly work with them again.” -Jeff Garshon, former producer

Martyn Skrzypczyk is the band’s lead guitarist and primary song writer. A recent graduate of York University’s prestigious Fine Arts Music Program, Martyn takes every opportunity to show what he loves to do. Mind boggling solos, melodies that stick in your head, and funky guitar riffs are all the usual repetoire. This unique talent must be seen live.

Danny Marcus is the lead singer, fueled by raw energy and zeal, Marcus brings the crowd into his world as he fronts a massive wall of sound. His Robert Plant-meets-Dave Grohl style, tone and delivery set him apart from the average front man.

As for the massive wall of sound: Chris, Andrew and Adam are the most solid rhythm section any band could hope to find. Penetrating your brain with complimenting harmonies, rock-solid riffs, and sonic pulsating hot fire, these three keep every live performance on lock-down.

Generally, the code of conduct in Modern Rock over the past few years has lacked originality, direction and integrity. These tracks are an in-your-face submission to the ongoing history of Rock n Roll.
