Bio

Hailing from the Midwest, J Scott brings his love for music to New York City. He began his musical endeavors as a high school student in the small town of Morton, Illinois. He dabbled in solo appearances and local bands in the area. He continued his search for music in college in the little metropolis of Peoria, Illinois where he played student unions and small fundraisers. Upon graduation, he developed a mini-tour within the area spreading himself down into the Springfield area and all the way up into Chicagoland.

Two years and over two dozen shows later, J Scott has reached a new horizon in that he is now beginning in the NYC community. J Scott is testing the waters at open mics and has prepared a demo to reach these new audiences. In the Fall of 2003, he released Acoustic Music and is in the process of preparing an EP release for Summer end 2006.

J Scott's style dabbles in acoustic folk, blues, rock, and pop genres bringing variety to the sound. The music takes an in depth look at the inner weavings of J Scott's mind and combines with the layerings of his acoustic guitar to form a sound that is kinetic. His vocals are dynamic in personality and create a velvet texture over top the rhythmic guitar.

Of his many influences, J Scott has been encouraged musically by such artists as James Taylor, Damien Rice, Radiohead, Switchfoot, Jars of Clay, Pearl Jam, and Modest Mouse.

Beyond a singer/songwriter, J Scott spreads himself into the world of recording . Not only does J Scott record and produce his own material, he has recorded projects both in live and studio work with local artists such as Suz Harrison, Allison Weaver, Worship@full.volume, ReachOut, and Scouts Honor.
