"Five Stars- A Must for Folk Pop Junkies"

With that smoky, crunchy vocal quality reminiscent of David Gray, the resonant, echoing blankets of sound like Coldplay and a laid-back folky pop quality that brings to mind something familiar (just out of reach, on the tip of your tongue but slippery and elusive enough to draw you in deeper), Bergman’s knack for weaving intelligent, moving songs is apparent from the get-go. With surprising agility and relaxed control, his voice floats, lilts and dances within the textures, getting cozy with the harmonies, winking at the easy going grooves. A must for folk pop junkies.

Bio

Scott Bergman was born in New Jersey and raised in Southern California. Influenced by his first musical love, The Beatles, as well as such icons as Neal Young, Radiohead, Bob Dylan and David Bowie, Scott Bergman continues to evolve with mysteriously evocative songs of love, hope and observation. His music is contemporary but there is a quirky edginess and fearlessness that can sometimes lack in songs of the mainstream. Players on his most recent studio record include bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen of Nine Inch Nails and Zac Rae (keyboards/arrangement for Fiona Apple/Alanis Morrisette). Bergman possesses rare vocal range yet is down to earth in personality and demeanor. A man who likes to let the music speak but also comes across as a Ben Stilleresque creature who can be at once funny and self deprecating despite his considerable talent. Having played on stages from Holland, London England to Los Angeles, in essence, a balance in both his art and presence which leaves you with a melody or two stuck on your tongue and a provocative lyric lingering in your mind. A former lead singer of a Los Angeles modern rock band called Something Iris, the solo experience started out a bit lonely after a series of showcases for Chris Blackwell and Island Records did not come up roses. The band would eventually break up but this gradually gave way to an enhanced ability and comfort level to communicate with songs that were at once naked in presentation but thick with depth and grace.
