Speed releases "The 5 Speed"

J Speed has that classic hip hop sound with fierce abstract beats

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

J Speed
PRLog (Press Release) - Mar 10, 2011 -
J SPEED

J Speed began his love affair with music at an early age, but didn’t pursue it professionally until he was in college. While in college, he simultaneously taught himself the art of production, recording and editing on his own musical creations. He wrote song after song sharpening his skills as an all around musician. After years of training himself, he finally was ready and able to release his music independently through digital distribution.

J Speed is proud to announce the release of his fourth album titled “The 5 Speed”. His lead single off this album is “Mr MC”, which translates to Mr. Make Checks. The theme is not only being money smart, but also being a total professional. This single has a deep drawl with vocals where each word has a hard feel to it. The emphasis on the first letter of the word, showing a point that is being made. The sound flows, with eclectic and innovative beats sprinkled with sounds that make that song pop. He often uses melodic flare to accent the brash orchestral sound tracking, creating optimum effect. J Speed is an inventor of sound and of a new wave of rap that has yet to be discovered. He is the voyager that found this very unique sound.

“The 5 Speed” was released November 23, 2010 and has received rave reviews since. It is available digitally at most digital storefronts.

Prior albums are:
Sophomore Slump (released January, 2010)
3 Listens (released January 2010)
For Fans Four (released June, 2010)

"J Speed _ Good Morning"

Exclusive Interview

Tell us about where you are from and how you got to this position today.
Well, the short version is I was born and raised in Charlotte, NC where I started loving music at an early age. Whether it was my headphones blasting or my trunk rattling, I kept the music loud and constant. However, even though I always immersed myself into both listening and playing music I didn’t begin to pursue music professionally until my freshman year in college. During that time I began to teach myself the art of production, recording, and editing while also sharpening my skill as a song writer by penning song after song in order to develop as an all-around musician.

After several years of sacrifice, dedication, and seriously hard work I was finally ready and able to release my music independently in early 2010. During my debut year I released four albums starting with “Sophomore Slump,” then followed by “3 Listens,” “For Fans Four,” and “The 5 Speed” respectively. The following year I was able to grind out my sixth record titled “Long Play Six” which released in August 2011. Since then I have continued to work and grow in my craft as I have recently released my seventh album titled “Into Ne Ves Deeps” on April 23, 2012. All I have been doing is working and working and working since, and that just about brings you up to SPEED!

Tell us more about the current song you are promoting to everyone.
This was a hard choice for me because I pride myself in musical diversity so it is hard to pick one that represents my complete catalog so I chose one from the most recent album that seems to appeal to a large group. I think that a lot of people will be able to relate to the concept. So with that being said I went with “Good Morning.” The theme of the song in based on the classic tale of boy meets girl, massaging your eardrums as the storyline unfolds to illustrate the path to what can only be described as a beautiful or “Good” morning.

Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in the industry?
Whoa, now that is a tall order, in this industry there are so many. However, one of the most difficult challenges for me has been the selfishness and disbelief which is something almost all artists and musicians have to deal with on some scale. But in my personal experience it has been extremely prevalent. The reason for that is because I chose to produce and record my own music. This required me to learn a lot of different aspects of music production and recording which in turn increased the amount of people and conflicts I had to endure in order to become a professional musician.

Much like any beginning artist or producer, the fact that I did not have any prior knowledge what to do or where to start made me a easy target for those trying to get over, in regard to both services and equipment. But all of the negative experiences only supplemented the positive experiences because through-out the whirlwind of conflicts this career brings you’ll reach a goal and look back on what you went through to realize it; man it’s that much sweeter! Oh and lets not forget the financial struggle because it is tremendous, everything costs money and nothing and nobody’s work is free, believe that!

What was one of the biggest set backs in your career and how did you bounce back?
One of the biggest set backs for me personally occurred very early in my career when I was attempting to get my first high performance computer in order to learn recording. At the time I was building a business relationship with a local computer technician. I presented my problem to him and he informed me that he could build me a unit that was more than capable if I could come up with thirteen hundred dollars cash. At the time I had little knowledge of how computers worked and was naive to the average cost of this type of computer or even what computer specifications to look for. But being determined to get what I needed I placed my trust in h - WWS Magazine
