Bio

If there is a club open at 2AM and the music is grimy, that's where you'll find JSTN. Time to take it over and shut it down. He takes over the floor and everything stops as he transforms the static environment into his own magnetic playground.

Hailing from Gary, Indiana, JSTN (Justin Johnston) grew up wanting to be the next big thing to come out of the city since Michael Jackson. After the passing of his father when Jstn was 4, he turned to music and watching videos as a means to cope. "I grew up in the music video generation so i would teach myself how to sing and dance by watching every video channel possible." As time went on, he became more serious about music and soon took on the piano, drums, guitars, dancing and singing.

Immediately following high school, Jstn took a much needed, and unknowingly beneficial, trip to Europe to visit a cousin who designed shoes & accessories for Alexander McQueen. While getting lost in the club scene in Paris, Jstn discovered what was the start of an important relationship with Europe. Europe inspires his writing and artistic choices even still today.

Upon his return and just one year into college, Jstn signed a contract to portray the Tony Award winning character, Angel, in RENT . He performed all over the world from Los Angeles to Tokyo, and steadily on Broadway.

Jstn has created a name for himself in several parts around the world as a singer/songwriter, musician and actor with a roster of collaborators and co-workers that include Penn Badgley, Shayna Steele, Mel B, Joey Fatone, Drew Lachey, Spencer Day, Tracie Thoms, Tamyra Gray and Frenchie Davis.

While touring the world over the past year, Jstn was able to create and record his music in various hotel rooms inspired by the nightly riots of road life. The passion for bringing all backgrounds of people together on a dance floor sparked an internal revolution. Nights of outrageous behavior all around the city made for interesting song writing and genre crossing musical landscapes.

Jstn says, "The BlacktroniK EP was created in the places I traveled to while trying to unite people through music. From whiskey bars in Wisconsin to monster clubs in South Korea, this music was designed to allow you to bring your demons to the floor and work them out of your system. The pleasure is all mine..."
