JT Habersaat

JT Habersaat

 Elgin, Texas, USA

Headliner of the Altercation Punk Comedy Tour, the nation's most respected DIY standup comedy tour. Completed over 50,000 miles in tour dates (in rock venues as opposed to comedy clubs) since 2008, including festivals such as Fun Fun Fun Fest, The Fest 8, Punk Rock Bowling Las Vegas and Warped Tour.

First hitting the mean streets and stages of New York City comedy clubs at the age of 16, JT Habersaat has since gone on to become to face of punk rock standup. Spending his college years performing throughout the Tri-State area with the taboo-shattering improv outfit 5 Drunken Immortals, JT eventually found his way to Austin, Texas, a home base from which he would launch the now critically-hailed Altercation Punk Comedy Tour in 2008.

Featuring an ever-evolving assortment of comedic comrades including Chris Cubas, Joe Staats, Jakes Flores, Ruby Collins and more, the Altercation Tour quickly made a name for itself by adhering to a DIY commitment of performing mainly in all-ages music venues rather than traditional comedy clubs.

Logging over 45,000 miles in national tour dates since its inception, JT and the Altercation Tour have performed on such large-scale national festivals as Fun Fun Fun Fest, Vans Warped Tour, The Fest 8 and more, in the process sharing the stage with such legendary bands as the Bouncing Souls, Danzig, Devo and the Dead Milkmen.

An already-familiar persona within the punk rock scene due to his long-held position as editor-in-chief of the decade-old music periodical ‘Altercation Magazine’, JT quickly became a go-to support act for such popular underground comic performers as Doug Stanhope, Jeanine Garofalo, Brian Posehn and even Henry Rollins. He also writes a monthly column on underground standup comedy for 'Amp Magazine' (80,000 print run nationwide).

Most recently, JT was invited to MC the 2010 Punk Rock Bowling Awards in Las Vegas, NV by Mark Stern of Youth Brigade, where he performed alongside Flogging Molly, Against Me, The Dickies, Hot Water Music and NOFX. In October 2010 JT also was tapped by Side One Dummy Records' (Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly) owner Joe Sib to open his sold out run of west coast spoken word shows at the legendary Improv Comedy Club chains (including Hollywood).

Currently booked with a non-stop schedule of national tour dates leading well into 2011, JT’s rise as one of the punk rock scene’s most outspoken and hilarious performers seems to show little sign of slowing down anytime soon.
