"J-Town On The Xpress Lane"

A Fan of Xfm is selected and given the opportunity to co host the Xpress lane with Kwame Farkye every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm.

During selection Facebook profiles of the fans are investigated by the X-team to know if they got the potential, positive vibe and the X attitude to be on the show. When the lucky fan has been chosen they are informed to enable them brace themselves for the Show.

They would read shout-outs,promos and text's and also explain what the other shows are on xfm during the show and also interract with the general public by making three statements about her/him of which two are true and one a lie.

The listeners are then supposed to decide which of them they think is a lie via texting to 1466,xfm facebook fan page or website.

Up and coming Artist/Producer J-Town was the lucky guest for today who got to interact with Xfm fans by reading shout outs from the fan page/website and she also got to give his personal shout outs/requests on the Xpress lane.

Signed to Killa One West and CEO of both Home Of Original Dreams Entertainment and The Beat Productionz. J-Town honed his skills as a member of the Skillions, a widely known and respected Hip-Hop group.

In 2008, J-Town represented Ghana at Channel O's "Sprite Emcee Africa" rap battle in South Africa. He came 2nd in the competition, showing great potential and putting GH on the map.

His desire to widen the boundaries of his ability and expertise led him to begin producing many of his own beats and eventually creating the Home Of Original Dreams Ent.

"J-Town Unmasked"

2009 Channel O – Mcee Africa 1st runner, J-Town, is set to release his second mixtape since his return from South Africa, where the event was held.

The mixtape; 'NO MASK " would be released in August this year.

It features a collection of some of the best Gh-rap artistes and producers such as JAYSO, THE CANZ, KEVIN BEATS, LIL SHAKER, RUMOR, BOBO, KLU, CHASE, PADLOCK, KILLMATIC and lot more. 'NO MASK' would unmask the never before seen part of the punchline rap major on 15 radio and club banging tracks. He sets out to leave a part of his vocals in your head for a long time.

His first mixtape titled 'J-TOWN J-MIXES " which still remains the most downloaded mixtape ever released in Ghana, released February 11 2010 on his own label HOME OF ORIGINAL DREAMS ENTERTAINMENT (HOOD), recorded 140,049 downloads. It also had 15 tracks of well-known hit songs remixed, such as Trey Song's 'Say Ah', Timbaland's 'Say Something', Ludacris' 'How Low' and Kanye West's 'Say What's Real'.

Despite his growing successes, J-town continues to put his all into the creation of amazing sounds and original lyrics. His devotion has led to incredible opportunities such as opening for international superstars such as Sean Paul, Joe Thomas and recording with Nigerian music icon 2face. J-town has also recently collaborated with UK's current number one rapper Sway. Currently ripping speakers apart is his new rock styled hip-hop song - 'Guns and Roses', with its video already out.

Apart from the musical front, J-town is also the creator of the urban clothing line 'B.A.M.' (By Any Means) which is distributed in many parts of Africa. Stefen Menson a.k.a J-Town has succeeded in turning his name into an incredibly lucrative brand and this is still only the tip of the iceberg.

With his daughter being his greatest joy, and the reason for his hard work, J-Town looks forward to always delivering the best he can, for an assured success in return.

Bio

In a music scene awash with mediocrity, J-Town stands out. Equally at home rhyming, singing or producing, J-Town is that artist that your favourite artist goes to for the best hooks, the best rhymes and the best beats. Simply put, he waves the flag for genuine talent and originality.

He’s been exposed to a wide range of sounds from Teddy Pendergrass and Al Green, to Big Daddy Kane and Slick Rick, as well as Ghanaian musical legends like Gyedu Blay Ambolley.

Today, the kid who started rhyming while banging beats on his third grade school table has channelled all his influences and finds himself nominated as Ghana's Best Hip Hop Act, a mere year after seeing the video to his rock-themed track, 'Guns & Roses' nominated as Channel O's Most Gifted video out of West Africa.

Many Africans will recognize J-Town from Sprite's 2008 'Emcee Africa' rap competition held in South Africa with some of the continent's best MCs. Placing second, he put Ghana on Africa's hip-hop map. With this much success without an album, J-Town regular forces his critics to eat their words and wondering what will follow after he drops his debut.

Besides hits alongside Konvict signee Sarkodie and many others, he has three mixtapes under his belt and is the founder and CEO of two production outfits: 'Home Of Original Dreams Entertainment' and 'The Beat Productionz'.

In contrast to his amazing stage persona, Stefen describes himself as shy but quietly confident. When he isn’t in the studio or performing at various events you can find him at home with his greatest joy; his daughter.

J-Town is currently an ambassador for "I Stand Above (http://www.istandabove.org/)", a nonprofit organization that propels underprivileged young individuals worldwide toward their short and long term goals by providing them with the resources necessary to ensure their continued upward movement on the ladder of success.
