"J Trigga on Hoodgrownonline.com"

Hey J Trigga, what's good with you? For those who are new to the movement give the readers some background.

Well my name is J.Trigga… “It Stands For Trials Result In Getting Goals Accomplished. I’m 21yrs of age and am the Founder/Chairman/CEO of Get It Gang records.

I heard that you were heavy into sports before rap, what made you switch up your career path?

Well, besides the fact that I couldn’t take the verbal assault from my coaches, i.e pass the ball Trigg, pass the ball (laughs). Plus realistically the chances of me making the NBA were slim to none; plus I thought their would be more of an opportunity for me through music?

Who were some of the musical influences that helped sway that decision?

I’d have to say the most influential people would be the pioneers of the game, Jay, Nas, BIG, Russell, Lyor, Andre Harrell, Diddy. I’ve always been a fan of music. So the influencers are also my inspirations…

As a new artist in the game, what are some of the things you are doing to stand out amongst the saturated environment?

By making music that’s relevant to the people!!! A lot of the music today caters to a younger demographic. That’s why you’ve got the Soldier Boys selling tons and tons of records, because no one wants to think anymore when listening to music, they just wanna bump to it. My intent is to bring the game back to its essence in the sense of creativity, you understand? For the dudes who take the extra time to perfect their 16 bars, or back to the passion and love that was embedded in the music prior to what we know it as today. I want my music to be relevant on all fronts.

How are you using the internet to get yourself seen and heard?

(Laughs) Folks aren’t running to the record stores as much anymore. So from networking, to free downloads, to blogs, to consumer feedback, the internet is definitely a powerful tool in breaking a new artist. Shout out to hoodgrownonline for allowing me the opportunity…

What was it like opening shows for two of hip hops finest, Jim Jones and Styles P?

Well I was in PA for a while doing my thing…I remember the old heads would use me as their front if you know what I mean…so at the time music was just a by product. We were at a club called the Waterfront, and a brother by the name of DJ Front who was the house DJ at the time really looked out for me. He had Styles P booked one night and I happened to be in the building. Styles really showed a lot of love and taught me the importance of humility. I love him for that man! The situation with Jimmy was a little different though… That night was a little awkward but I’ll leave it at that… I respect that man for his craft and his influence in the game.

I also heard you have performed on the same stage as Ron Isley, what was that experience like?

Well that experience was even more so special because Ron is not even a hip hop artist. We were running around Manhattan one night pushing our CD’s and we bumped into Ron Isley in front of his hotel. We approached him on our situation; he liked the music, and followed up with us a few days later. His secretary called and was like, “Ron wants you to come out to his performance at the Hammerstein Ballroom. Crazy!!!

What was it like touring across the seas in places like South Africa, Germany, Australia and the UK?

(Laughs)I love traveling man… I love people and all different cultures.

What's next for J Trigga?

Well right now, im doing a whole lot of song writing… I’ve been living in Jersey for the last few months working on a project with Andre Harrell, which is coming along pretty good. Also, we’ve got a few movie scripts that were in the process of presenting and of course more music... King of Queens hosted by Superstar Jay, drops September 4th.

J Trigga, what's going on, let the people in on your background.

Well my name is J.Trigga. I’m 21yrs of age and am the Founder/Chairman/CEO of Get It Gang records. I’ve been doing it for about 10 yrs now.

Interesting name, when did you get it and what does it stand for?

It stands for “Trials Result In Getting Goals Accomplished. When you’re a young knuckle head running the streets, the old heads tend to give you a nickname based on you’re character. When you’re at the bottom, it inspires you to better and want more for yourself, and those around you; Thus birthed the name Trigga. I however, wanted to turn that negative into a positive, thus birthed the definition of Trigga

What was it like growing up in Queens NYC?

(Laughs)Man, Queens is just like any other hood across the globe. A lot of gangs, cars, drugs, the pursuit of fame? Alot of Queens rappers were doing it crazy big when I was growing up… Onyx, Lost Boyz, Mobb Deep, LL, Nas. Man these dudes were doing it for Queens baby!

How do you fit into the hip hop game and where are you trying to take it?

I fit in because I’m relevant!!! A lot of the music today caters to a younger demographic. That’s why you’ve got the Soldier Boys selling tons of records, because no one wants to think anymore when listening to music, they just wanna bump to it. My intent is to bring the game back to its essence in the sense of creativity. For the dudes who take the extra time to perfect their 16 bars, or back to the passion and love that was embedded in the music prior to what we know it as today. I want my music to be relevant on all fronts.

Who are some of the emcees who have inspired you to become an artist?

That would have to be a brother by the name of Gutta from my hood that allowed me to see what a real MC should be and represent. He taught me the importance of having great stage presence. Besides that, Jay, Nas, BIG, Pac, all legends in their own respect have definitely inspired me…

I hear you have a new mixtape release coming soon called 'King Of Queens' hosted by Superstar Jay, what can fans expect?

Yea man, September 4th baby... I love this project man because as far as recording, I switched the whole style, and as far as creativity, it’s an album, not a mixtape. I’ve got production from some of the hottest producers out? Dunny, who’s produced for Beanie Siegal, Freeway, the whole State Property. I’ve got Spaceboy, outta Boston, whose done tracks for B2K. I got Lord Finese… Speaks for itself. And tons more. This is my best project yet!!!

Do you feel disadvantaged being from New York in today's industry Climate of midwest and southern artists?

Hell no!!! New York is the birth place baby, you understand? Now no disrespect to anyone else, but New York inspires all of that, not to mention that life is a cycle… So, right now we may be rotating on the South’s axis, but eventually everything has to come back home…

What's a J Trigga stage show like, what can fans expect to experience?

(laughs) The fans can expect an ongoing explosion… Once the mic is in my hand, it’s like a trip to another realm, you understand? I transform into a different person. I don’t even see the crowd; all I can hear is the music. You’ve gotta just wait and see?

A lot of artists claim to be on their grind, how do you define your grind?

See, niggas say “I’m on the grind but me, “I’m in the grind man. See the difference is, one is an attempt to do something; kind of like a gimmick… The other meanwhile is a conviction that forces it to happen. For me, this is destiny!

What's next?

More shows, more albums, more visibility, more me…J.Trigga

J Trigga from Queens NYC, tell the people what they need to know, who are you and what do you?

Well my name is J.Trigga. I’m 21yrs of age and am the Founder/Chairman/CEO of Get It Gang records. I’ve been doing it for about 10 yrs now.

Where did you aqcuire the name? Are you a violent dude?

It stands for “Trials Result In Getting Goals Accomplished. When you’re a young knuckle head running the streets, the old heads tend to give you a nickname based on you’re character. When you’re at the bottom, it inspires you to better and want more for yourself, and those around you; Thus birthed the name Trigga. I however, wanted to turn that negative into a positive, thus birthed the definition of Trigga. As a youth, I may have been violent to provide for myself the basic necessities for survival, you understand? But now I think that it’s more so of an educated violence that allows me to aggressively pursue my aspirations…

A lot of rappers trying to stand out, what make you 'that' guy?

What makes me that guy is the fact that I’m relevant! My music is relevant!!! A lot of the music today caters to a younger demographic. That’s why you’ve got the Soldier Boys selling tons of records, because no one wants to think anymore when listening to music, they just wanna bump to it. New mixtape hosted by Superstar Jay 'King of Queens' in streets soon, what can we look forward to?

You can look forward to a lot of heatrock! (Laughs) I’ve got some of the hottest producers in the game on this album man… This project is gonna make a lot of artists step their game up, which is technically good for hip hop anyway… I refuse to dumb down, you understand? September 4th is the date baby…

I heard you were an athletic dude before you picked up the mic, Why hip hop?

Well, besides the fact that I couldn’t take the verbal assault from my coaches, i.e pass the ball Trigg, pass the ball (laughs); Plus realistically the chances of me making the NBA were slim to none. I saw hip hop as another outlet for me, thus birthed the Trigga Man…

NY is defintely not a popular place for 'mainstream' hip hop right now, what can you do to change that?

I’m not trying to change that… I’m not trying to be mainstream… My goal is to be consistent in making sure that my music is relevant on all fronts…

J Trigga, where are you from and how did you get the name?

Well, I hail from Mobzdale/Jamaica Queens. I got my name through real life experiences… It stands for Trials Result In Getting Goals Accomplished…

'King of Queens' is your new mixtape hosted by Superstar Jay, what can listeners expect and how have the streets responded?

Well, listeners can definitely expect to hear an album, not a mixtape... ‘King of Queens’ has 22 original neck breaking bangers, you understand that? The streets been calling it a classic and it’s been all positive feedback thus far…

Your new singles 'So Fly' and 'Bubble Butt' are certified club bangers, what's your creative approach like?

Well for me, the process can be both fun and dangerous… All of my music is based on emotion…so if I’m feeling good and in good spirits, I make joints like “So Fly” and “Bubble Butt” which are both fun records. The only problem is that I’m not always in good spirits nor in the best of moods…that’s when the music becomes more aggressive…

What's the next step on the ladder for J Trigga?

King of Queens hosted by Superstar Jay is out right now baby, you understand that? Undeniable heatrock!!! Apart from that, it’s more shows, more albums, more visibility, more me…Trigga Man

"J Trigga on Champ Magazine"

What's poppin J Trigga? Queens to Canada right now, let everyone know about the movement.

Well my name is J.Trigga. I’m 21yrs of age and am the Founder/Chairman/CEO of Get It Gang Records. I’ve been doing it for about 10 yrs now...

Let's start with your name, how did you get it and what does it stand for?

It stands for “Trials Result In Getting Goals Accomplished.” When you’re a young knuckle head running the streets, the old heads tend to give you a nickname based on you’re character. When you’re at the bottom, it inspires you to better and want more for yourself, and those around you; Thus birthed the name Trigga. I however, wanted to turn that negative into a positive, thus birthed the definition of Trigga

You have a new mixtape in the streets 'King Of Queens' hosted by Justo winner Superstar Jay. What's the premise behind the mixtape and what do you want listeners to experience?

Yea, The King of Queens, that’s me baby, you understand that (laughs)??? I love this project man because as far as recording, I switched the whole style, and as far as creativity, it’s an album, not a mixtape. I’ve got production from some of the hottest producers out? Dunny, who’s produced for Beanie Siegel, Freeway, the whole State Property. I’ve got Spaceboy, outta Boston, whose done tracks for B2K. I got Lord Finnese… Speaks for itself. And tons more. This is my best project yet!!!

The joint 'So Fly' is crazy, definitely a club banger, and 'bubble butt' is a problem too. What's the J Trigga creative process like, take us through your journey into making a smash.

(laughs) Well, making a smash for me can be fun and at other times dangerous… All of my music is based on emotion…so if I’m feeling good and in good spirits, I make joints like “So Fly” and “Bubble Butt” which are both fun records. The only problem is that I’m not always in good spirits nor in the best of moods… (laughs) that’s when the music becomes more aggressive…

You recently beat up the stage at Beats on The Beach in Miami, by the looks of the footage you had it poppin. What was the feedback like from the performance and how important is the visual aspect play into the overall package for a new artist like yourself?

The feedback was definitely positive and I’m truly grateful for all the love… The visual aspect of any performance is crucial because it connects the listener to the artist on a greater platform… Oftentimes as artists we invest so much into connecting the audio that we neglect the video. That’s why sometimes an artist may have great music but when they get on stage they look like crap (laughs). But Miami was fun though; I brought the ladies on stage with me to compliment the performance…

You've been hitting the press circuit pretty diligently, what is it about J Trigga that people need to know to really understand where your trying to take this?

Well were definitely not trying, were striving...you understand? Whenever you try to do anything there is a level of uncertainty that exists??? For us its destiny, so it’s just a matter of remaining consistent on our part... Besides that, my intent is to bring the game back to its essence in the sense of creativity, you understand that? For the dudes who take the extra time to perfect their 16 bars, or back to the passion and love that was embedded in the music prior to what we know it as today. I want my music to be relevant on all fronts.

What's on the agenda?

King of Queens hosted by Superstar Jay is out right now baby, you understand that? Undeniable heat rock!!! Apart from that, it’s more shows, more albums, more visibility, more me…Trigga Man

What's Good Jtrigga, with your lyrical content,I definetely need you to come up to my radio show and drip on the Liquid Lace....haaa.

(Laughs) My lyrical content is on point, don't worry...I would love to come to your show and tear it down!!!

Before we get deep with the interview the name Jtrigga was it given to you through street affiliation? or is it your alter ego?

Well, most of the names inherited by us artists' unfortunately comes from the streets; The name T.R.I.G.G.A stands for Trials, Result, In, Getting, Goals, Accomplished... It basically means that when your down and out, you should be inspired to go out there and make your situation better. Its all about turning a negative to a positive.

From Athlete to Rapper, why the transformation?

It really wasn't that big of a transformation... I was always writing music, all I did was basically put the ball down and go even harder with my career. Initially I was into sports heavy because my uncles Jude and Carl were both college basketball stars... Since a young buck they taught me everything, but that was them living their dreams? This is mine...

How's it been so far stepping into the music industry, are you receiving the support you need to market and strategize on your career?

Hell yea!!! I love my manager Vino!!! He goes extremely hard for the kid and his only goal is to help me realize my dreams and better myself as a man, you understand? Also, my uncle J Hatch and the whole I Standard family for all they do for the unsigned community... So far everything is going according to plan and I prey it stays that way? (laughs)

You know coming out of Queens, there's going to be an expectation? are you concerned about that? have any Queens rappers influenced you?

I'm not too concerned about that man, nah mean? I always say that the music speaks for itself... If you're hot you're hot!!!I'm influenced by alot of Queens MC's for many different reasons... I met LL a few times and was always impressed by his level of confidence. Can't nobody tell LL nothing! If you try battling him, you might not make it out alive, nah mean? (laughs) I love Mr. Russell Simmons because of his business capacity. He is the epitome of what many of the up & coming aspire to be... I find my inspiration through many Queens MC's. Were all from the same hood and share a common love, Hip Hop...

They say Hip Hop is Saturated, and the South took over, and NY gives no Love to NY Rappers. what's your take on that?

(Laughs) New York is the birth place baby, you understand? Now no disrespect to anyone else, but New York inspires all of that, not to mention that life is a cycle… So, right now we may be rotating on the South's axis, but eventually everything has to come back home…The climate in NY is a reflection of overwhelming potential greatness...

JTrigga, let the Industry know who you are? what your bringing to keep us checking for you? and elaborate on all your upcoming projects.

The industry will know who I am soon enough? Right now I'm just running around promoting my latest project entitled King of Queens hosted by DJ Superstar Jay... Check for that "Bubble Butt" record tearing up the clubs as we speak...(Laughs) The new project drops on my B-Day February 14th 2009. Until then, it's more shows, more interviews, more me...

Trigga man Anyone you would like to thank?

I would like to thank my management company, Reckless Management. Special thanks to IStandard Inc and everyone that believes in J.Trigga. I want to extend my gratitude to Soul Pitch Hustle for the interview and for allowing my voice to be heard. Lastly, I would like to thank all the haters, without you there would be no J.Trigga!!! (Laughs)

Thank you for taking the time to kick it with Soul Pitch Hustle and I look forward to having you drip it on my radio show Liquid Lace ( The fabulosity of dripping dirt through da airwaves)

Thanks alot, I look forward to it as well. Get It Gang baby... www.myspace.com/jtrigga1 Peace - Cyn

Well my name is J.Trigga, 21yrs of age and am the Founder/Chairman/CEO of Get It Gang records.

Queens has been a mecca for hip hop for a long minute, what do you intend to bring to the table?

Well, my intent is to bring the game back to its essence in the sense of creativity. For the dudes who take the extra time to perfect their 16 bars, or back to the passion and love that was embedded in the music prior to what we know it as today. I want my music to be relevant on all fronts…

The intent was to ruffle some feathers, you understand that? I don’t really care about being the “King of Queens”, but I knew that it would stir up controversy, and stimulate thought… Mission accomplished

You also have a new single making some noise 'So Fly', what’s the records concept and what message are you trying to get out to potential fans?

Self Confidence!!! How you feel about yourself no matter what you’re in; that undeniable swag baby.

There is alot of competition out here in NY with just about every body being a rapper these days, how are you trying to seperate yourself from the 'other' rappers?

What makes me that guy is the fact that I’m relevant! My music is relevant!!! A lot of the music today caters to a younger demographic. That’s why you’ve got the Soldier Boys selling tons of records, because no one wants to think anymore when listening to music, they just wanna bump to it. My intent is to bring the game back to its essence in the sense of creativity. For the dudes who take the extra time to perfect their 16 bars, or back to the passion and love that was embedded in the music prior to what we know it as today. Queens is definitely making major moves right now with artists like Lexx9Eleven, Ox, Vic Damone and a new swaggerific emcee named J Trigga. Armed with a new mixtape ‘The King Of Queens’ Hosted by Superstar Jay and a single ‘So Fly’ bubbling on the underground but catching some major label attention and the grind of a chainsaw with a fresh blade, J Trigga is here to convince you that hip hop needs a fresh face and change.

What up J Trigga, let everyone know about your movement?

Well, my name is J.Trigga… I’m 21yrs of age and am the Founder/Chairman/CEO of Get It Gang records. I’ve been doing it for about 10 yrs now.

Over the years queens has been a mecca for hip hop superstars such as Nas, Mobb Deep, Run DMC and many more, what do you intend on bringing to the table to create your own legacy?

By combining all of those guys into one (laughs)…Nah mean, aspiring to be even better than they were, while still acknowledging them for paving the way… The music speaks for itself, you understand that? Get it Gang Baby (laughs)

Being from NYC and Queens specifically, do you feel any pressure in regards to keeping up the city's reputation on the mic?

Hell no!!! New York is the birth place baby, you understand? Home of the brave… NY always gets its props? We’re the Mecca of music, so it’s no pressure at all…

You have a new mixtape called 'king of queens' hosted by Superstar Jay, how did you 2 link and what can fans expect to experience?

Well I met Jay through a friend of mine, Bay Lloyd. As a young knuckle head, he liked the kids swag and introduced me to Jay, nah mean?

Who are some of the artists and producers you worked with on the cd?

A lot of the home team, nah mean? We got Lord Finesse, J.Dunny, Chefboy, you know, some of the hottest producers in the game right now…

A lot of emcees in today’s world have been forced to dumb down the lyrical side in exchange for a catchy hook or a funny dance, how do you feel about the direction of hip hop today?

I believe that Hip-hop is moving in a positive direction, you understand? One of the things I dislike however is the lack of balance that has been portrayed when it comes to creativity. It’s cool to make fun songs, but without balance, its just abuse… We can’t forget about the lyricism?

What are some of the tactics and strategies you have in place to stand out in a very saturated hip hop climate?

(laughs)I mean, the grind always separates baby... There are so many different avenues to explore that we’ve yet to tap into. We’re just preparing for our season…Get It Gang Season!!!

If you could work with any one producer and any one artist in the game to make that dream collab, who would they be?

(laughs)Awe-man, you know, Dre, Timbaland, Homey Hill, Pyro, J.Dunny, my man Inf, you know my family…

What's next on the plate for J Trigga?

More shows, more albums, more visibility, more me…Trigga Man

J TRIGGA
Biography

Trials Result In Getting Goals Accomplished= TRIGGA Born Jeffrey Princivil was raised in NYC but of Haitian descent. Athlete extraordinaire turned rapper, grew up in the streets of Rosedale, New York where drugs and gang violence was dominant. "You had one of three choices; rap, sell drugs or play a sport," says Trigga, who had initially adopted playing sports prior to discovering his talent for music. Growing up without a father, Trigga focused all his energy into writing; he loved to write from a young age and would copy the biggest works of literature verbatim... With his talent being nurtured and the word of mouth advertisement from his community, he would go on to win countless battles that would establish his name as an MC. Trigga was influenced by the likes of Jay Z, Nas, DMX, Biggie and Bounty Killa just to name a few. After meeting up with a few High School friends, the group decided to start their own label, Spit Flame Records. Their dead-end search for studio time almost made him give up his music aspirations completely, sometimes only being privileged to share his music in karaoke bars with no results...
