Juanita, the British born songstress, who originates from Guyana, is blessed with a beautiful unique voice, an alluring stage presence and profound songwriting abilities that puts her in her own exclusive category. Juanita's music echoes influences from legendary and contemporary greats alike such as Nina Simone, Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker, Prince, Annie Lennox, Mica Paris, Lauryn Hill, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce. A fervent passion for the art form of music, that stems from a household that enjoyed a range of music from everything to Soca, R'n'b and Reggae, to Pop, Garage and Dance, it was inevitable that her love for music would blossom into a full fledged desire to pursue music as a career! Whilst growing up in London, England, Juanita began composing lyrics and honing her vocal craft from the tender age of five. Performing at family functions, within a choir, fashion shows, or at local singing competitions, she discovered a creative escape via her music. Touching on varied topics, such as family and her perceptions of her own surroundings, her music flourished into heartfelt offerings that displayed a wisdom beyond her young years. Juanita's desire for singing and songwriting grew more intense in her teenage years and people began noticing her distinctive voice and songwriting capabilities. Juanita knew that it would only be a matter of time to elevate her career to the next level. Juanita opted to migrate to the USA, to accelerate her music pursuit. Knowing that the sound she craved and wanted to capture resided in the capitol of the music world, New York, Juanita embarked on her exciting music journey. Juanita began receiving vocal training from esteemed celebrity vocal coach Craig Derry and took her music to soaring new heights, performing as a background vocalist and collaborating with other well known, reputable emerging artists in the music industry. Juanita has also performed at various venues within the Tri-state area, such as The Baggot Inn, Dillons and The Underground Lounge. Juanita has a gift for penning sensuous and thought-provoking lyrics and conveys her profound lyrics through her raw and powerful vocal style. Not content on being labeled either, Juanita is determined in pushing the envelope with her Dance/Pop and R'n'b blend and is intent on revolutionizing the perception of the young female artist. A multi-faceted entertainer, Juanita also models, acts (she performed in the infamous Off Broadway production Vagina Monologues and has received four years of training at the prestigious Anna Scher Theatre in London, UK) dances and writes short stories and plays.
