Biography

My goal is to write and perform vulnerable honest music. I believe that the best art captures the bittersweet in life. It is currently not my goal to write the perfect plastic pop song. I like my art messy. I want to write and make music that grows on you, music that while not pretty you can't help loving because it speaks about your life. For the most part, I hope that I can just play some songs that talk about my life journey, the good and the bad.

Why do I call myself Judas Cole? Well the inspiration for the name came from Martin Scorsese's film No Direction Home. I admired Dylan's commitment to playing what he wanted, even when crowds were calling him Judas. I felt that there was no insult worse than Judas. So I choose it as a way of giving my self artist freedom to be anything and to say anything.

Judas Cole's other interests include graphic design, painting, running, surfing, cleaning, photography, haircutting, and dry wall installation. He collects stamps and 8mm films. He cooks legendary omelets and can whip up a stir fry feast at the drop of a wine glass. In high school he ran cross country on a district champion country team and likes to read, especially books by Ray Bradbury. He was very moved by the book The Artist Way. His brother Mark is a rock & roll drummer who can back up a truck with a trailer at mind numbing speeds. His sister Katie has an intellect as powerful and focused as a laser.
