Bio

JUDE ROBERTS is a New York-born and raised singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Jude became involved in the local New York music scene after graduating from Purchase College (1997) where he majored in Studio Composition.

In 1999 he recorded several traditional period songs for “Crucible of Empire”, a Public Television documentary about the Spanish-American War which aired nationally that year.

Jude traveled to Venice, California in 2001 to expand and explore new musical paths. He performed frequently at such venerable Southern California venues as The Abbott Kinney Festival, Venice Carnival, Hotel Café, Molly Mallone’s, and Ghenghis Cohen. His work also received regular airplay on Pacifica Radio Station KPFK on “Folkscene”, one of the longest running folk shows in the US. In 2004 he participated in the Voice of Democracy benefit concert in West Hollywood, which featured Jonathan Richman as one of the headliners.

Jude Roberts’s meshing of classic and contemporary is widely acclaimed. “A mellow, vintage sound…accented by his fine guitar work” is how California Songwriter Showcase organizer Randy Simer described Jude’s performance in a recent review. The hallmarks of Jude’s work -unforgettable melodies, brilliant lyrics, stunning vocals, and rock solid guitar playing- combine to create a unique and exciting find for acoustic and folk listeners everywhere.

Having recently returned to his roots in the Hudson Valley region of New York, Jude is currently working on a full-length record.
