Veteran singer-songwriter Judith Zweiman has been part of the New York City acoustic scene for many years. This versatile performer was recently named among "Long Island Music's Best of '96" by Newsday, JZ hails from Long Island, and has been a resident of Queens for the past two decades. In addition to playing music, JZ is also a multi-faceted writer, poet, videographer, and astrologer, and spent many years teaching guitar, most notably at the Guitar Workshop of Roslyn Heights, where she pursued the study of traditional appalachian and celtic folk music, country blues, jazz, and classical guitar.

Featured numerous times on the Fast Folk Musical Magazine, her song "Here in the Underground" currently appears on issue, #807. Judith Zweiman has appeared at several of the Fast Folk Revues at the Bottom Line in NYC, and her song, "Heart On Ice", was the show-stopper of the 1986 Fast Folk Revue, performed and recorded by Shawn Colvin and Lucy Kaplanski. During the mid-'80's and early '90's she performed regularly around the New York metropolitan area with her band, variously known as Zweiman, Bergman, McColl; Judith Zweiman and the Answers! or Shoo Fly Pi. She's performed with and/or appeared on the albums of a motley crew of other singer-songwriters, and groups, as singer, guitarist, and/or bass player, among them singer-songwriters Richard Meyer, Margo Hennebach, Hugh Blumenfeld, Josh Joffen, Christine Lavin, and Steve Key; performing with groups such as Late For Dinner, Darryl Cherney and the Chernettes, and Folkano, and as principle guitarist for folksinger Deb Kayman and Ethnic Routes. "JZ" has also been the bassplayer for both honky-tonk artist Orville Davis and the Dakota Band and the hardcore band Fall From Grace. In 1980-84, as the lead vocalist and principle songwriter-composer for the jazz-fusion ensemble, Ell's Kitchen, Judith Zweiman was the recipiant of a Meet the Composer awards grant for a videotaped concert at the Inter-Media Arts Center in Bayville, NY.

Having played venues from clubs and coffee houses to museums, parks events, street fairs, radio and cable TV shows, bars, restaurants, colleges, catering halls, psychiatric facilities, developmental centers, nursing and adult homes, boats, gazebos, and a jewelry store, Judith Zweiman has become impervious to distraction from minor disturbances such as passing subways or airplanes overhead, loudspeakers summoning patients for their medication, bar fights... and let's not forget the bowling alley! JZ also recalls watching a woman's hair go up in flames from one of those cute little votive candles meant to create atmosphere.*
Eventually it occured to her that releasing a CD would be a good thing. Dave Seitz, MD. and CEO of 1-800-Prime CD enthused:
