Judi Willson

This talented songstress was born and bred in rural Suffolk, England, moving to London at 19 to study and complete a BMus Hons at Thames Valley and Kingston Universities, majoring in Vocal Performance. Here she embraced the opportunity to work with other musicians from all kinds of backgrounds, adding to the development and growth of her own unique style and performance quality.
Judi has a way of letting her audience in to her head and the place she writes from when she performs. With songs ultimately based on the result of living like any of us; ups; downs; occassional moments of certified insanity, and plenty of stories of life and love, but with an added charm and spark, it's not hard to see why so many people identify with her music.
With influences including, but not limited to, Joni Mitchell, Janis Joplin, Fiona Apple, Tegan and Sarah, Etta James, Adele, Jewel, Jann Arden, Cold Play, and James Morrison, Judi's music combines elements of folk, blues, jazz, soul, and pop songwriting.
Supporting herself on the piano, which her oh-so-pushy, ever supportive mum forced her to stick with as a 4 year old, Judi's simple musical accompaniments are effective and interesting, never upstaging her strong yet sensitive vocals.
This is a voice to raise the hairs on your neck with a gritty, yet angelic sweetness in her melodic ballads, and to get your blood pumping with a wonderfully hot tempered splash of soulful freedom in her more upbeat tunes.
