Bio

Juggernaught are a band of hairy, whiskey guzzling, guitar slingin men, who play hairy, whiskey guzzling, guitar slingin music, they combine Classic Rock, Southern Metal, Blues and Rock 'n Roll into one bad ass brew called MAN-ROCK.
Thanks to the diverse influence of the individual members, Juggernaught has an interesting and powerful sound, with lyrics that are steeped in traditional Rock 'n Roll Mythology and music that is soaked in whiskey and sin. By having a blues rock sound reminiscent of rock bands from the 70’s combined with a more modern and heavier sound of todays metal music, Juggernaught have a very wide appeal crossing both genre and generation boundaries which means that they are just as at home playing at a blues festival as they are a death metal one.
Over the past two years since their inception they have played well over a hundred shows around Southern Africa, which includes festivals like Oppikoppi, Witchfest, Motherfudd 2009, Windhoek Metal Fest, Lucky Fish, Thornfest, Motherfudd 2010 as well as numerous tours around South Africa and Namibia. This relentless gig schedule as well as the energy of their shows and music has helped Juggernaught establish themselves as big players in the South African rock scene
Late in 2009 Juggernaught released their debut album “Act of Goat”, which has been very well received and it’s first pressing (of 1000) sold out in less than two months after which the band decided to make it available for free on their website in order to reach a wider audience and in keeping with their belief that a band should make money from playing live and not from recordings.
2010 to date(April) has been a busy year for Juggernaught, they have kept a heavy touring schedule (visiting smaller towns such as Secunda, Potgietersrus, Pietersburg, Springs as well as larger cities like Cape Town, Durban and Bloem) while still keeping a steady stream of local Gauteng shows as well as doing pre-production on their second album. They have also recently been selected for the 2nd season of the SABC program Jam Sandwich, to be broadcast Sep 2010 on which they will collaborate with another artist from a different genre to create and release a single on the prime time TV show.

NOTABLE EVENTS TO DATE:
• Voted onto Oppikoppi through the band wishlist in second place with over 1000 votes, 2008
• Debut album “Act of Goat” released Sep 2009
• Go on first national tour in support of “Act of Goat” Sep 2009
