"Johnny Z's Family Reunion"

Johnny Z's Family Reunion
In the mid-1990s, during the height of the jamband boom, onetime Metallica honcho Johnny Z signed a number of improvisational bands to his label, Megaforce. Among the choice acts: the Ominous Seapods, the Juggling Suns and an unknown band known as the Disco Biscuits ("[The Biscuits] could have been the biggest band on Earth," Johnny Z told Relix in 2005). On Friday, two of Johnny Z's former subjects collaborated at Asbury Park, NJ's the Stone Pony. After the Disco Biscuits performed on the venue's outdoor summer space, guitarist Jon Gutwillig stuck around for the Juggling Suns post-party inside the Stone Pony. Near the end of the group's first set, Gutwillig took the stage, playing guitar on "One More Time" and "Son." The Disco Biscuits will perform at the High Sierra Music Festival on July 1, while the Juggling Suns next scheduled gig will take place at Philadelphia's The Smoked Joint Friday. - jambands.com
