Juke Joint Sinners

Juke Joint Sinners

Although the Juke Joint Sinners play classic flavored blues, they play it with a power and passion not often seen in their contemporaries. And, I’m not just talking about hopped up, distorted, electrified noise. I’m talking about music that pours out from the heart. The gut. The soul.

The Juke Joint Sinners are the 2006 Iowa Blues Challenge winners, besting eleven other bands from across the state. They will represent the state of Iowa at the Blues Foundation’s annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN on February 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, 2007.

Although the group as a whole is new, its members have played together in the Quad Cities top bands, including; John Resch and the Detroit Blues, Shane Johnson’s Blue Train, and The Mercury Brothers.

Each of these bands has competed in and won the annual Iowa Blues Challenge, a competition open to all blues bands in the state of Iowa. Both Shane Johnson’s Blue Train (in 2000) and The Mercury Brothers (in 2006) advanced to the finals of the International Blues Challenge.
