"Powerful Performance"

“Big-voiced Julia Francis plays Vera Zasulich with just the right amount of willful pluck and wide-eyed political optimism.” - The Stranger

"Multi-disciplined Artist"

“One of the reliable pleasures of the fringe scene, actor Julia Francis recently stole the show vocalizing in Annex’s ‘The Changeling’. She has just completed a novel, Victory Garden, and is branching out as lead singer in a new band, StarHole67.” - Seattle Weekly

"Reinventing Motown Classics"

“The best reason to go — reason enough, I say — is Julia Francis: She does well by Diana Ross, investing each musical number with enough degenerate spunk to counter the production's less inspired moments.” - Seattle Weekly

Bio

Julia's deeply affecting melodies modernize a 60’s pop sensibility, with writing reminiscent of Paul Simon, early Liz Phair and Rickie Lee Jones. In the last ten years she has consistently won critical praise from the Seattle Times, The Stranger and the Seattle Weekly for her work in live theater where she garnered many rave reviews in roles combining her versatile singing voice and riveting live performance.

With a beautiful new album under her belt and fans in Europe, as well coast to coast in the U.S., Julia's flirtatious, heartbreaking and bold form of storytelling is winning fans, wherever she goes.

Collaborators include Seattle trailblazers: Mell Dettmer (Critters Buggin), Trey Spruance (Mr. Bungle, Secret Chiefs 3), Don McGreevy (The Spoils), Jason Merculief (Ghosts I’ve Met), Steve Moore (Laura Veirs), Bill Patton (The Stares), Hans Teuber, Eyvind Kang, and Joseph DeLorenzo.
