"A Docket Full of Stars, All Shiny and New"

The New Faces of Comedy, a showcase where relatively undiscovered talents have an opportunity to show what they've got to bookers and agents, can be hit or miss. Last night, it was mostly hits.

Julia Lillis [was] the only musical act, she brought out a keyboard and sang a song about being in love with TV's Zach Braff and wanting Angelina and Brad to adopt her. You had to be there: It was quite entertaining. - The Montreal Gazette

"Laughter at Home Brought to Soldiers in Iraq"

CAMP VICTORY, Iraq – Service Members deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom gathered at the Camp Victory Green Beans Pavilion, April 8, to enjoy an hour of laughter as they listened to comedians with Comic's Ready to Entertain.

In an effort to reach all Soldiers at Victory Base Complex, Comedians Scott Kennedy, Gary Cannon and Julia Lillis performed eight shows at various locations within a two-day period.

Sgt. Keith J. Istre of Mermentau, La., with the Headquarters Company 256 Infantry Brigade Combat Team Brigade Special Troops Battalion Base Defense Operations Center had a positive reaction for the event. "I thought the show would be an interesting change from my daily routine," explained the chaplain's assistant. "I'm glad I went because the comedians were extremely funny; there was even a point where I could feel my face turning red from laughter."

"The show was absolutely hilarious and I really enjoyed it," said Warrant Officer 1 Todd C. Blanchard of Marksville, La., a vulnerability assessment team chief also with the 256th BDOC, as he waited in line for the comedians' autographs after the show.

Comic's Ready for Entertainment is hosted by the USO and is scheduled to return to Iraq for Troop support within the next couple of months. - 256 Brigade Combat Team

Bio

Julia Lillis’ comedic songs gained national exposure when she created and starred in the weekly comedy series “A Song by Julia!” for E!, each week writing a new tune based on headlines in celebrity magazines. During the final season of "Scrubs", Julia was invited on set to sing her song "Ode to Zach Braff" to Zach Braff! (can be seen at the end of the reel on the videos page of this EPK). She was a “New Face” at the 2007 Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. In a review of the New Faces, The Montreal Gazette wrote of Julia's set, “You had to be there: It was quite entertaining”! She can be seen regularly as a snowboarding correspondent on the Fuel TV show “The Daily Habit”; and has been seen on E!, The Style Network and MTV. Keep an eye out for Julia’s funny commentary on the upcoming season of “The Dish Presents” on The Style Network! In the past two years Julia has been on USO/AFE tours overseas to entertain the troops at military bases in Iraq, South Korea (twice) and Guantanamo Bay Cuba (twice), where she featured for Dennis Miller. She is currently planning a tour in Afghanistan for Fall 2010. These days you can catch Julia in comedy clubs and colleges nationwide. Her blend of quirky songs and hilarious stand-up provides a little something for everybody!
