Julia Magness is a native Austinite and is currently a lead vocalist in The Original Bells of Joy Gospel group. She has been learning from these music veterans for the last 4 years. The Bells of Joy discovered Julia in their audience while passing the microphone through the crowd. They immediately recognized her potential and adopted her into their all African American, male gospel group.
Recently Julia started her own band called Miss Julia and the Cruzers. In Nov 2011 they beat out the competition in Austin TX and were sent to Memphis TN to compete in The International Blues Challenge. They made it to the semi-finals. This is very impressive since the band literally had one show before the contest.
Julia can perform with a small group which is suited for smaller venues and restaurants or with a full band for larger events. Her large vocal range enables her to sing, Jazz, Gospel, Blues and Country music.
