Forbidden pleasures, dissapointment and alienation are the main themes that run through the music made by these young rebels from the UAE. Straddling the cultural divide between East and West like a Colossus riding a killer bee to hell, the band are a flying contradiction in the face of anyone's preconceptions and prejudices. With 7 years of playing live in the Arabian Gulf and Europe, Juliana Down have not stood still long enough to be classified. The only labels that stick are 'brave', 'daring' and 'driven'.
Formed in 2002 by three school friends with the sole ambition of stirring up every hornets nest they came across, the band eventually found their sound when their heavy hitting drummer Abdul B. joined in 2006. Now, going at their instruments like rabid wolverines on acid the band set stages on fire and blow amps up like microwave popcorn.
Recently recognised as one of the "Fantastic 40" putting Dubai on the map alongside donald Trump and Justin Timberlake, Juliana Down are sure to export their dynamite shows and compelling music to a venue near you before you've had a chance to ask, "WTF was that?"
