Julianna Waters

 Wilsonville, Oregon, USA
BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

Biography

For the last 11 years, Julianna has been writing and performing throughout the northwest both as a solo artist and as a partner in the duo - Heart and Hammer.

She was a musical child who turned away from music for 17 years during which she chose a path of service working as a social worker. After earning her Master's Degree in Social Welfare from the University of California at Berkeley, she moved to Portland where she built a private psychotherapy practice.

In the spring of 1996, Julianna's spiritual path led her on Vision Quest to Death Valley where she reclaimed her musicianship. She has been writing, playing and singing ever since. Her seemingly bottomless collection of original songs has become the driving force behind Heart & Hammer.

Not limited to traditional venues, she feels equally at home in inspirational and spiritual settings including churches, community centers, and hospitals. She has two recordings available on cassette only: Lost and Found, and All Learning.

Julianna is songbird, teacher, counselor, and poet...a thorn in the side of most cynics, who sees herself as belonging to a changing world, a kind of desperado of hope.

Julianna has twice been a finalist at the Kerrville NewFolk Songwriter's Contest.
