"Morethanavote.com seeks to turn listeners into doers (Feb. 17, 2010)"

"...Peterson followed, showing off his Berklee-trained guitar chops in a jazz trio that highlighted his funky, soul-driven style. A romantic cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy” and a sprightly rendition of the title track from Peterson’s debut album, “Get On This Train” highlighted his set...."

"Get On This Train review"

A little funk, a little blues, and a whole lot of soul. Julian Peterson's songs sound much older then he is. It's a refreshing album. - Lazlo, BlowUpRadio.com

"Hoboken musicians band together to aid Global Fund for Women"

"...Julian Peterson, one of the most exciting young talents on the local scene, opened the show accompanied by drummer Nick D'Agostino, with a set of his soulful pop originals as well as a passionate, bluesy cover of John Lennon's "Jealous Guy." - The Jersey Journal

"JULIAN PETERSON - Get On This Train"

Kicking off to a rousing start with the awesomely hard-diggin’ titular tune, this album really pours on the sweet and soulful funk with a winning blend of style and melodicism. Julian Peterson’s passionate vocals and expert guitar playing make for a potent double whammy. The songs alternate between lively and exciting or more low-key and reflective, but are constantly tuneful and spot-on from start to finish. Moreover, there’s a thoughtful sensibility at work throughout that’s both touching and arresting in equal measure. A very cool and satisfying album.

Bio

Growing up in the mountains of Colorado, Julian fostered a music appreciation reflective of the world around him - raw, rootsy, and rich with colors.  His music gathers elements from country blues, old r&b and folk music and combines them with a groove-based, "eerily beautiful" indie rock sound.
Peterson's compelling stage presence is that of an old bluesman. He carries an intense passion beyond his years, trading between soulful vocals, and sweet solo melodies with his 1960's Gibson. He leads his own trio -Nick D'Agostino (drums) and Reuben Cainer (bass), two dynamic players who aren't afraid to get dirty and electric, or quiet and tender as the rest of them.

Peterson's played thoroughly in the New York circuit, as well as in folk and blues festivals along the east coast.  He recently returned from the first national tour of Greenday's musical "American Idiot," (2012) where he performed as their guitarist. Stay tuned for dates scheduled for Peterson's upcoming "Going South" Fall/Spring 2013 tour.

Highlights:
- During his studies at Berklee, Peterson was awarded the Songwriting Acheivement Award Scholarship ('05) and the SESAC Songwriting Scholarship ('06). He also won the Berklee Songwriting Competition ('06), and was chosen to play at numerous showcases including the competitive Songwriting Showcase.
