Bio
Julie and the Jukes is a Northern California Band playing pure, classic blues. A four-piece combo including guitar, harmonica, bass, and drums, Julie and the Jukes bring to life the classic Chicago blues of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, the Memphis sounds of B. B. King and Albert King, the Texas style of Freddie King, and the classic women's blues of Bessie Smith and Ida Cox.
Julie, on bass guitar and vocals, fronts the band. With 11 years of experience in blues bands, she brings energy and charisma to the show. Charles “Chicken Scratch” Oriel, on guitar and vocals, has been playing guitar and singing for 40 years. Stan Powell, on harmonica, adds a rich, gut-bucket sound. Together Charles and Stan trade dynamic solos and electric fills. Dan Callnon, on the drums, creates a lively, in-the-pocket groove.
