JULIE BLUE

Songs of healing and love embody the heart of Canadian singer/songwriter Julie Blue. With a richly soulful and beautifully evocative voice that has had music critics comparing her to Norah Jones, Sade, and Dido, Blue looks beyond stylistic boundaries, weaving together influences of jazz, classical, pop, and blues with a painter's eye for sonic detail. Blue's latest album, One of a Kind Woman, brims with warmth and an uplifting, therapeutic spirit. At a time when pop music has been redefined as disposable and superficial, Blue has dared to inject substance and timelessness in her songs, polishing them with radio-friendly hooks and a classy presentation.

Blue was born in Calgary, Canada. Her early passion for music led her to start playing piano at the age of five. By the time she was 17, Blue was already singing and playing professionally. She finished training in jazz at Capilano College in Vancouver, British Columbia and spent years studying classical music and voice. A global artist, Blue has performed throughout the United States, Africa, Australia, Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean and Japan. She currently performs at festivals and concerts with her trio or quartet of world-class musicians including multi-instrumentalist Joseph Pepe Danza and renowned bassist Laurence Mollerup.

Julie's current projects include a performance as Musical Keynoter for Goldie Hawn's Bright Light Foundation fundraising event; Matthew Fox's Earth Revival Cosmic Mass; and the Neale Donald Walsch world tour. She also performed at the Minerva Foundation's Life in Balance forum, and the international conference of both Noetic Science and Religious Science. She was a featured artist at the International Unity Conference in Kansas City, was part of the grand opening of the new R.O.M. museum in Toronto, and performed at the Edge of the World festival in Queen Charlotte Island.

She founded the Singspiration Creative Empowerment Programs in 1989 and has touched thousands of people through her Healing Sound and Songwriting Performance courses. Blue also writes music for and directs a 70-voice gospel choir, "The Singspiration Singers." Blue has also artistically directed many shows and concerts over the span of her career. She continues her fifth year of performances as Motivational Presenter at Harv Eker's Enlightened Warrior Camps in Canada and the U.S.

Julie's film composing credits include the award-winning documentaries Close to the Heart, Stolen Lives (which was the recipient of a Leo award), and Life and Times of Alex Trebek and Shipyard Lament for CBC. Her current projects include Traveling at the Speed of Life, an Ocean Playground Productions feature film; the National Film Board's documentary My Father, My Teacher; and the PBS documentary called Pete: Moving Man-Made Mountains.

One of a Kind Woman, her sixth album, made its debut a two sold-out concerts in Vancouver. Her instrumental CDs, Shining Through and Heart of the River, are selling internationally.

One Of A Kind Woman

Written By: Julie Blue

One of a Kind Woman
Julie Blue Feb. /07

She¹s a deep-hearted woman who knows how to speak her mind
She¹s a deep-hearted woman both honest and kind
She never stays down for long - she¹s tender and strong
One of a kind woman

She¹s a kind-hearted woman with a smile on her lips
She¹s a kind-hearted woman with a curve to her hips
She gives as good as she gets she know how to have her own needs met
One of a kind woman

See the world in her eyes
Don¹t you love the way she can
Be a gentle, focused, fair and wise woman
One of a kind woman one of a kind woman

She¹s a brave-hearted woman who knows how to get things done
She¹s a brave-hearted woman who likes to have some fun
She¹ll stand up for what¹s true she¹s a lot like me and you
One of a kind woman

See the world in her eyes
Don¹t you love the way she can
Be a gentle, focused, fair and wise woman
One of a kind woman one of a kind

A sparkling gem; her spirit bright and true
She¹s the feminine gateway that all of life comes through

See the world in her eyes
Don¹t you love the way she can
Be a gentle, focused, fair and wise woman
One of a kind woman one of a kind woman

Well of Love

Well of Love
Julie Blue

All of life’s a story each story meant to tell
Shooting stars, smoky bars thrown into the wishing well
What would it take for you to love me
This story is untold
I look into your eyes for the future to unfold

We each write our own story, what would you like your to say?
Do you want the things our future brings or are you gone the very next day?
What would it take for me to love you the way I know I could
To look into you eyes and know we’ve understood

We’re old enough
We’re wise enough
We can live our lives in love
Drop our pride reach down deep inside
Find the well of love

Each day a brand new story with another page to turn
Can we go through the fire of our desire without another bridge to burn
What would it take to stay together and still live lives of our own?
We come into the time to see how much we’ve grown.

We’re old enough
We’re wise enough
We can live our lives in love
Drop our pride reach down deep inside
Find the well of love

What’s the use of writing another chapter with someone new.
Is there someone better for me, someone better for you?
What’s your story?

We’re old enough
We’re wise enough
We can live our lives in love
Drop our pride reach down deep inside
Find the well of love

Love Looks Like Now

Love Looks Like Now
Julie Blue 2004
Everything he owns is in the back of his van
He knows he has to drive away, he doesn’t have a plan
He sees three sad faces and hands waving goodbye
He turns - tries to smile at them as he starts to cry
This is the hardest thing he’ll ever do
The longest moment he’ll ever get through
But somehow this is what love looks like now

She’s sitting in her rocking chair rocking way too fast
All the kids were breastfed there back when she thought love would last
She’s angry, unsettled, she hasn’t begun to grieve
She never thought the hurtful things she said would make him leave
This is the hardest thing she’ll ever do
The longest moment she’ll ever get through
But somehow this is what love looks like now

This is what love looks like now this is what love looks like now
After all the stories have been told you never know what life will hold
This is what love looks like now

They’re still at the window watching Daddy drive away
They don’t know when they’ll see him again, after today
He told them they’re precious and he loves them so
But the fighting with their Mom was so bad he had to go

This is what love looks like now this is what love looks like now
After all the stories have been told you never know what life will hold
This is what love looks like now

Somewhere down the road I wonder will they find their way
To a place of forgiveness to a state of grace

This is what love looks like now this is what love looks like now
After all the stories have been told you never know what life will hold
This is what love looks like now

Bluer Than Blue

Written By: Julie Blue

Bluer than Blue
Julie Blue
The greens are gone – at least I can’t see them now.
It’s time to move on but I don’t know when or how
I can’t see the forest for the trees
I can’t see through the fog of possibilities
Leaving me dazed and confused
I can’t see the greens for the blues.

Then the yellows went away – or maybe I’ve just closed my eyes
The world turns gray, until I realize
I can’t see the sunshine for the clouds
I can’t see the angels in the crowd
I need them to remind me to choose
I can’t see the yellows for the blues

Chorus: I’m bluer than the depth of a midnight sea
Bluer than a summer sky could ever be
So many shades of being true
Color me bluer than blue

The reds have faded – I come to bed when you’re asleep
I get hurt and frustrated looking for a passion that’s mine to keep
I can’t see the fire for the smoke
I’ve forgotten the punch line to the joke
Got to turn off the bad news
I can’t see the reds for the blues

Chorus
How come I don’t know I’ve lost perspective
Until I find it again

Chorus
