Metis artist, Julie Marinelli has teamed up and taken to the stage with Juno-winning producer/musician Dan Donahue, following the release of her full length roots inspired, acoustic folk-pop recording, Water Off a Duck's Back" (2008). Classically trained in voice, Julie has spent a lifetime performing folk, jazz, classics and show-tunes both locally and internationally. As a founding member and lead singer of the former folk-band Majolie, Julie played alongside the multi-talented international musician, Marie-Josee Dandeneau. After collaborating with Kenny Byrka of the Canadian rock group Sleddogs, Julie enjoyed (as co-writer) the success of the Sleddogs' hit single Perfect Place which broke through to the Top 40 and received a nomination for a 2006 Canadian Radio Music Award. Recordings from her recent release have received airplay on CBC Radio, MIX 96.7 FM, Winnipeg's HOT103, and Women of Substance Radio & Podcast.

Raised as a Franco-Manitoban with Metis heritage, in a strong Mennonite community, Julie captures the essence of prairie Canada. Sharing a love of music with her father, she was immersed at an early age in traditional, folk and 70's music, influenced by musicians such as John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, and Anne Murray as well as Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, Jim Croce, and the Beatles. Introduced to her fathers compositions from the age of 2 and taking to the stage by the age of 5, Julie has for decades been driven by the need to create and explore new sounds. The richness of sacred music heard in the schools and community she grew up in is carved into her voice producing a sound that is entirely pure.

Returning to the stage with the release of her debut solo album, Julie continues to be inspired by female artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Sarah Harmer, Jann Arden, The Wailin' Jennys and KT Tunstall. She nurtures her musical and artistic career with the same passion she brings to her family and her students as she draws on a vast wealth of energy, drive and vision.
