Bio

The voice of Julie Palmer is unforgettable and hauntingly beautiful in its delivery and feel. The 25 year old singer/songwriter has been playing guitar and writing songs since the age of ten and has been influenced by the likes of Billy Corgan, Heather Nova and Queen.

Originally from Gunnedah, New South Wales, Julies love and passion for music initiated a move to Sydney in 1999 to pursue her solo music career. The same year, one of Julies songs made the finals of a regional NSW songwriting competition 'Heatwave'.

After completing a Diploma in Music at the Contemporary Music Centre in 2003, Julie was named Songwriter of the Year at the 7th Annual CMC Awards.

During 2004 and 2005, Julie worked with local producer David Liotta of Tonemarket, developing her sound in the studio. What has emerged is a truly unique and original four track EP. Imagine Enya meets Massive Attack and Evanescence. Beats intertwine with driving guitars to provide a strong rhythmic setting. This combined with electronic soundscapes makes for a fresh and exciting new sound.

In October 2005, Julie was invited to work with UK songwriters Tom Nicholls and Tim Baxter, who have collaborated with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Jessica Simpson and Guy Sebastian. Julie recorded backing vocals for a song the duo wrote with Erica Baxter in the renowned Sony Studios. The song will appear on Erica's album released through Sony BMG Australia, due out later this year.

In December 2005, Julie was nominated for a MUSICOZ Award, Australia's premier music awards for unsigned artists. She reached the Top 5 of the World Music Category with her song ‘Destiny To Prove’. Julie also made the Top 10 in the Dance Category for her song ‘Run’, which is currently receiving airplay on Gunnedahs local radio station 2MO.

Julie performed an acoustic set to a packed home crowd in July this year, supporting Anthony Snape, another talented artist originally from Gunnedah. Julie is also working on a side project as one of the key songwriters collaborating with artists for a new development and production company.

2006 will see Julie Palmer continue to write and perform her original material around Sydney.
