Bio

The "violeiro" Júlio Santin was born in the country side of São Paulo state, region of Alta Paulista (western of São Paulo state). He is agriculturits' son and lived a great part of his life in a farm in Irapuru. He graduated in medicine at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul in 1989.

He was enraptured by the sound of the folk guitar when he met Aldo Efigênio dos Santos, "Efigeninho", a famous "violeiro" from Dracena. He learned to play and to build his own instruments. Through time he has improved on his technique, faced challenges, as he has been living between music and medicine.

He has been dedicating himself to promote and preserve folk music in the region where he was born. He presides the Cultural Association Caipirapuru, NGO established by "violeiros" and admirers of this kind of music. He is a collaborator in the holding of the "Annual meeting of Violeiros and singers of Irapuru", which is in its sixth edition.

As a musician, he has played beside Gedeão da Viola, Rio Pardo, Zeca Collares, Fernando Deghi, Levi Ramiro, among others. He is launching the instrumental CD of "viola caipira" "Sentimento Matuto". Levi Ramiro takes part in the CD (as a partner in some of the compositions), as well as the percussionists Carlinhos Ferreira and Donisete Juvino and the couple Mauro Silva and Oliveira.
