Tatiana McConnico is a American singer and songwriter better known by her stage name as July Cruise. She’s ready to bring soulful pop back into the music scene in a much more electrifying way with her debut single “A Song About You” that’s scheduled for release on digital retailers on July 23, 2013 via Opus Label. This debut single brings a beat to which you can dance yet infectious lyrics to sing along to. Catchy and effective, ready to conquer the top 40.
Her inspirations in music since childhood have been Fiona Apple, No Doubt, Diana Ross and The Supremes. But July hasn’t sat around just hoping she could share her talents with the world. She has appeared on shows such as “Star Search” and “American Idol” and sang at WBLS’s 20th Anniversary Celebration, where Alicia Keyes and Angie Stone also performed. At the American Idol audition, Randy Jackson referred to the singer/songwriter as “the best voice in Birmingham“. Cruise - born Tatiana McConnico - auditioned for "American Idol" back in 2007 where she finished in the top 40. After a few gigs at spots like The Apollo and Madison Square Garden, she signed with Opus Label. Her first single with the label, "A Song About You," sees Cruise issue her declaration of independence from an awful ex-boyfriend.
On "A Song About You," July gets her Carly Simon "You're So Vain" moment, dedicating her dazzling dance track to a dud lover. Like Simon, Cruise calls out her ex's vain attitude, singing, "Just 'cuz I wrote a song about you don't mean I give a damn about you." Her soulful voice gives added weight to bold lines like "July don't cry." Cruise doesn't cry, but she does get even with this unapologetic club kiss-off.
