For bands that combine rock with electronic music, live performance is usually a hurdle...they rarely know how to actually rock out on stage...the opposite is true with the recently formed Baltimore band Jumpcuts... the band’s live lineup sounded full-bodied and confident, as a trio with two keyboard players and one great drummer that put a little more power behind the arpeggiated grooves. Frontman Andy Shankman’s vocals...worked well within the context of the band’s brooding synth rock aesthetic." - Al Shiply - City Paper

Bio
Jumpcuts began as the brainchild of Andy Shankman, a longtime fixture on the Baltimore music scene who cut his teeth working on tour for the band Lake Trout. Shankman formed the first incarnation of Jumpcuts after a flurry of songwriting activity that produced most of the songs on Electrickery. The songs were largely composed on guitar and then transposed to synthesizer, Shankman slowly piecing together tracks on MIDI with co-arranger Gideon Breidegam. The gleaming keyboard lines were then recorded through amps and given muscle by producer Rob Girardi (Beach House) and drummer David Bergander (Celebration) at Lord Baltimore Studios.
