"Jun – New York City, NY"

Aggression meets the Smashing Pumpkins, but Billy Corgan has nothing on this.

I remember getting a cd in the mail back in the day from a friend of mine I was fortunate enough to meet through another friend of mine. The word “Jun” was written on a white label and a note saying “Take a listen and let me know what you think – Lyle” Little did I know that when I popped in this cd, I would be exposed to some of the sweetest new sounds to hit the scene. Fresh but familiar, I listened to the first track not wanting to skip to the other tracks. I was enamored by the songwriting and fluidity in the vocal lines. “Definition” was the infamous track and it laid the foundation down for the rest of the ep. Next up was one of my favorite songs to date called “Behind.” It hit me like a ton of bricks to the face. Melody like my ears have never experienced before touched areas of soul, despair and hurt that I never knew existed. I was an instant fan.

Composed of Jun Lyle Kamesaki (Guitar, Vocals) and Randy Slavin (Drums), Jun has a chemistry that does not come around often and they prove it through their monstrous riffs of anger and angelic melodies of love. Two years after the first disc reached me, three more discs have been created and along with that came songwriting maturity rarely seen in today’s day and age of music I call pure shit. Jun is a breath of fresh air needed to be experienced by music lovers of any genre.

Songs like “She Said” and “I Will Wait” bring Jun’s spectrum from one end to the other. Classic pop riffs to the endearing melodies, there is nothing this band fears to touch upon. The pure meaning of eclectic is derived here and has it ever been done justice.

Visit Jun on the web at www.JunBand.net and download their latest tracks. Jun will be appearing at The Lion’s Den in New York City on July 22nd at 8pm.

Bio

A construct composed of opposing forces, JUN is a dialectic of two individuals addicted to progression. Randy Slavin (drums) and Lyle Kamesaki (guitar/vocals) cradle this conflict, knowing that resolution between them will produce a destination unbeknownst to either. Every record they produce, every show they perform is a snapshot as to how that conversation ended that specific day. The songs they sing are simply an outcome of a process, a proactive cry for communication filled with ego, insecurity, and an overwhelming sense of destiny. Be it a pop or rock song, a self indulgent ballad, JUN is for an audience that is drugged by the temporary nature of themselves and the band they are listening to.
