"BATTLE OF THE BANDS - QMU 22ND MARCH"

Next up was Junebug, hailing from Aberdeen with a sassy Acoustic Rock sound that would sit lovely on Radio. After a so-so start lead singer Katie Irvine seemed to relax thus making the audience more at ease. Their melodic rock prermutated by the incredible drumming on offer by Harry Smith, very few times have i seen a drummer on a battle night with such competence and confidence as they ripped through songs Picture in Motions and Death of you and me. Close to the end, Katie remarked it was wierd seeing herself on the big screen, cut out a few minor sound problems and she and the band will be seeing a lot more of themselves. - GlasgowMusic

"Edinburgh Reporter Review"

Next up were Junebug, who we interviewed earlier in the week. Confident and charismatic, 2012 is sure be a big year for the foursome and it will certainly not be the last time they play in Edinburgh. The gig was a great opportunity for them to perform some upcoming releases and with more recording sessions in the pipeline it will be interesting to see where the band goes from here. Junebug’s material is current and they did not disappoint in the slightest. - George Ward

"ersus: Heat 1 26.01.12"

The first band, Junebug, were strong, their performance gaining them a lot of crowd support, singer Katie’s vocals shone throughout. Their great songwriting ability put them in good stead with the judges, along with the skill they showed in their great use of dynamics and alternating their set up for different songs to achieve a congruous but changing sound with each song. They also benefited from a great deal of crowd support, which carried them to the final, to take place 26th of March - Queen Margaret Union

Bio

Formed in 2010 when members Matthew MacDonald and Owen Rataj came together to experiment with some acoustic guitars, they went on to expand their sound and recruit vocalist Katie Irvine and percussionist Harry Smith and thus Junebug was born.

The beginning of 2011 saw the band fully coming together with recordings and live performances becoming more frequent. The band spent their year perfecting their sound and stage presence whilst adding to their growing number of self-penned tunes.

The band have had many great opportunities so far, supporting bands on their UK tour such as The Hazey Janes and Finding Albert, whilst also having the opportunity to play legendary venues and small festivals around Scotland.

Their debut EP 'The Chase' is available for free download as well as their newly released singles!
